Cosplaying in this outfit of Firefly actually catches light much more than imagined; the white base with teal-and-blue color scheme easily gets its details swallowed by environmental colors at night. Therefore, this time I specially found a steel structure bridge surface with a strong side light source, utilizing the geometric lines of street lamps and railings to darken the background, letting the character's silhouette stand out. The wig underwent layered and slightly curled treatment, and the hair ornament on top of the head was fixed very securely, ensuring it wouldn't get messy even when the wind blew during the shoot. The cloak has a great drape, and the dynamic tension when leaning one hand on the railing came out instantly. Post-production mainly controlled highlight clipping, preserving the clothing texture and the reflective quality of the metallic parts. The biggest challenge in night portrait photography is balancing the skin tone and white balance; warm-toned lights shining on white hair easily lean yellow, but through on-site metering and white board calibration, the color tone restoration in the final photos turned out quite satisfying. The venue for this set of photos was chosen under a bridge by the river, with distant city light points and nearby sharp industrial structures, which aligns beautifully with Firefly's own setting of mechanical elements coexisting with softness. During the shoot, I kept reminding myself to maintain a firm gaze, as the character in the story is that quiet but resolute type. Having edited the first image overnight, the overall atmosphere and emotion are perfectly on point, making it a very smooth night creation.
