[Dragon Princess cosplay] Granblue Fantasy: A Fantasy style collision of white gauze and black wings

For this Granblue Fantasy Dragon Princess cosplay photoshoot, I experimented with a Fantasy style aesthetic hovering between the sacred and the alluring. To align with the theme of an angel fallen into the mortal realm, the overarching approach steered clear of a standard combat route, focusing instead on atmosphere and bodily silhouette.

For the costume, generous amounts of white sheer gauze and lace fabrics were chosen, accented with golden roses and strap details. The cropped midriff top paired with a high-slit sheer gauze skirt beautifully elongates the leg lines visually. To heighten visual impact, I deliberately went with choppy, purplish-black short hair, combining Elf ears with red-tipped black demon horns, finished with a golden halo and white floral accents on top to strike a balance between holiness and darkness. For the eye makeup, red pupils paired with bold red lips further amplified the visual focus of each shot.

The shooting location was an indoor studio featuring vintage wooden window frames and European carved white walls. In terms of lighting, we primarily relied on natural light pouring through the window, particularly utilizing backlighting to pierce through the white skirt layers and conjure a weightless, translucent texture. During shooting, I consciously relaxed my shoulders and neck while pacing my breath to let bodily curves look natural and poised.

For pose design, we tried several distinct postures. One involved sitting on the windowsill with one leg lifted high—though demanding on core strength, it maximally showcased the skirt's layering and the elongated lines of the leg. There were also postures leaning against the floor and reclining sideways on a white chair. To better present the skin's radiant sheen, body shimmer highlights were applied before shooting, which, when hit by side-backlighting, made the entire image feel far more luminous. We continually adjusted angles on set, striving to capture a languid yet subtly tense demeanor while keeping my gaze directed straight into the lens to enhance visual interaction with the viewer.

I believe cosplay is not just about pursuing one-hundred percent recreation of costumes and props, but also about secondary creation combined with one's own unique traits. Forgoing cluttered background props to tell the character's story through pure light, shadow, and body language was my small exploration in this shoot. The softness of the white gauze, the sharp edge of the black wings, and the timeless stillness of the vintage setting form the core of this work. I hope it brings a fresh visual sensation to friends who love Fantasy style aesthetics and Anime-style photography.
