【Yao Cosplay】Honor of Kings Default Skin — I Want to Protect You from Any More Harm - Image 1

Choosing the default skin of Yao from Honor of Kings for this Cosplay sharing stems directly from my fondness for the quiet sense of companionship in her design and kit. Her role naturally carries protective qualities, which coincides perfectly with the line I wrote in my post, \"I want to protect you from any more harm.\" Thus, when selecting this fuzzy plush jacket ensemble, I aimed to emphasize a soft, enveloping feeling.

The pink wig worn this time isn't a cheap fluorescent pink, but rather a low-saturation macaron pink with muted grayish and subtle flesh tones. To align the long hair with her default design, I specifically styled both sides into Pink twin braids. The tension of the braids needed precise control—not too rigid, ideally draping over the collarbone and chest area. The ends taper naturally, and together with neck shadows, prevent any visual heaviness. Before shooting, I specifically used a matting spray to reduce specular glare on the wig's surface, bringing its appearance closer to natural hair softness and avoiding a frizzy or plastic look on camera.

The Antler headdress atop the head and ears with red inner linings serve as the soul of this look, as well as the core signature elements for recreating her default skin. The plush antlers feel very soft, and the gradient red tones inside the ears exhibited a subtle translucency under the diffuse lighting inside the car—a detail vital to elevating overall accuracy. For eye makeup, I paid close attention to the blending range of the eyeshadow. Unlike many heroes requiring elongated eyeliner or deep eye sockets, Yao's eyes represent a synthesis of youthful innocence and divine aura. Thus, I chose a shimmering pale pink eyeshadow, lightly dusting it across the aegyo sal and upper eyelid center, paired with light purple contact lenses and a broad application of warm-toned blush below the eyes, making her gaze appear luminous and innocent under natural light. Although applied somewhat heavily, this blush softens sharp facial features, creating a gentler, more soothing facial impression.

Regarding the outfit, since Yao is a naturally agile and spirited character, I avoided overly rigid or opulent fabrics. The white plush jacket carries a distinctly cozy winter daily vibe; leaving the zipper halfway down reveals a hint of brown inner wear, adding depth without feeling bulky. Her default design is straightforward, capturing her identity as a forest nature spirit, so I eschewed heavy foundation to highlight natural skin clarity and a subtle under-eye blush flush, fitting her blend of wildness and innocence. Shooting inside a car broke away from the sharp, polished feel of studio sessions, letting natural light filter obliquely through windows to cast soft flare spots across plush fibers and wig strands, creating a vivid, lifelike atmosphere. Though the background outside the window was slightly chaotic—showing trees and hanging clothes—it actually contributed a sense of realism and everyday warmth. A solid backdrop might have lost that storytelling feel of sitting in someone's backseat, accompanying them on a journey.

While many players focus primarily on her mechanics or skill effects, to me, her true core charm lies in providing a shield by your side and quietly following along. Thus, during this shoot, I refrained from forcing dramatic poses, choosing instead to sit quietly on the black leather car seat, straightening my upper body slightly while facing the lens with a calm gaze. The black stitching on the seat back formed a striking warm-cool contrast with the pink-and-white wig, making the subject stand out clearer. Wearing these headpieces and headbands all day proved quite heavy, causing slight pressure behind the ears—a practical reality every cosplay outfit presents—yet seeing the plush fur gently sway with my breathing in the final shots made all the effort feel worthwhile.

This photo set captured during the ride possesses a truly soft texture. Free of complex studio setups and relying purely on natural diffuse light, it encapsulated the unpretentious, protective essence of her default skin within the cozy confines of the car cabin. This comfortable, laid-back state perfectly aligns with how this hero lives in my heart.
