[Lucy cosplay] Cyberpunk: Edgerunners — Night City Patent Leather Styling

Preparing for this Lucy cosplay primarily focused on reproducing the tactile authenticity of the garments and props. To capture the intersection of advanced technology and gritty wasteland aesthetics in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the costume heavily incorporated high-gloss black Patent leather. While this material drinks in light brilliantly before the lens, it can mercilessly expose tailoring flaws. I conducted multiple fittings and adjustments prior to the shoot to ensure that kinetic poses would not produce unnatural strain or bunching.

The wig was styled into an asymmetrical silver-white bob accented with subtle streaks of pastel pink, mint green, and yellow to create textured dimensionality. To maintain crisp blunt lines along the fringe and nape, copious setting spray was applied before heading out. For makeup, the gaze was paramount: crimson circle lenses paired with sharp, winged dark eyeliner anchored her formidable presence. Because large-diameter lenses can cause dry eyes during extended shoots, keeping lubricating eye drops on hand is essential.

Upon arriving at the studio, the photographer had already dialed in the lighting setup. To accentuate the sleek Patent leather finish, the key light utilized a cold slate-blue temperature balanced by lateral rim lighting to trace sharp contours. Our first series tested a backward-glancing pose, prioritizing back musculature extension and displaying the arm tattoos. After testing various tattoo transfer scales, a slender cross-star cluster was chosen for the left upper arm, while fine line work on the shoulder was hand-drawn with liquid eyeliner for precision.

The second setup featured a three-quarter profile with fingers lightly touching the lips. To emphasize torso curvature and tension, I engaged my core, anchoring weight onto the rear leg while letting the front foot feather-touch the floor. Thigh cutouts demand strict posture control, and leg straps frequently shifted between takes, requiring obsessive realignments. The third series moved into standing full-length poses to elongate leg lines over heavy platform boots and greaves, followed by half-body close-ups with crossed arms to spotlight the red-and-black bodice splicing and puffed cropped jacket. The studio setting enabled meticulous control over every rim light and highlight reflection, ultimately manifesting Lucy's chilly, Cyberpunk futuristic aura.
