Slipping into this ancient-style attire blending light pink and tender green, putting on the dark teal (dark green) wig, and standing inside the vermilion Chinese corridor instantly maxed out the character's atmosphere. The location chosen was a typical classical garden—red pillars, painted ceilings, carved wooden windows, plus the pond and rockery behind, adding rich traditional charm to the visual.

The first photo is a full-body presentation, mainly showcasing the outfit's layering. The light pink wide-sleeved outer robe flows downward, layered with white, brown, and green patchwork inside. Neckline details and the light-green waistband at the waist form a lovely color match with the wig. Gold hair ornaments embellish the double bun hairstyle, adding delicacy. When choosing angles, we paid special attention to the flower-and-bird painted ceiling overhead; such painted architectural details in traditional Chinese style look stunning on camera.

In the second photo, sitting on a wooden bench along the corridor, holding a folding fan with floral patterns on a white base. The fan serves as a fantastic prop—half-covering the face creates a lively character demeanor while beautifully framing face contours. The tranquil pond and arranged rockery in the background bring a serene lush green atmosphere. When shooting this style, prop usage is essential; the fan complements the attire while acting as a diffuser or foreground under harsh light, enriching spatial layers.

The third image is a half-body close-up, utilizing wide sleeves as foreground. Many people don't know how to pose with large sleeves before the camera; raising the sleeves and capturing the fabric's colors and light filtering through creates a dreamlike effect. The overlapping boundary of pink and light blue fabrics looks exceptionally soft in natural light, achieving a translucent texture without complex lighting setups.

The fourth picture is an extreme close-up, highlighting makeup and gaze. With lower face coverage removed to expose only the eyes, eye makeup and lens pairing required utmost care. Blue-purple contact lenses contrasted vividly against the dark green hair, instantly captivating attention. Straight bangs paired with double buns form a classic ancient-style look, while golden hair accessories bring out the character's essence instantly.

Throughout the shoot, I felt the harmonious blend of Chinese architectural features and costume. Red pillars, green window frames, and painted ceilings represent distinct traditional Chinese aesthetic elements. To make the subject pop, the photographer experimented with eye-level, high-angle, and close-up perspectives, leveraging red structures as natural framing. Shooting under intense daylight presents challenges in avoiding overexposure and harsh shadows; a slight turn or adjusting the fan's angle completely changes light texture.

The fabric was lightweight and breathable, so multi-layered wearing didn't feel stuffy, flowing elegantly with the breeze while walking. Inner white layers and neckline gradients transitioned smoothly into outer pinks and tender greens, appearing clean and harmonized rather than overly busy. Regarding makeup, to complement the wig color and persona, eyebrows were drawn soft and natural; emphasis shifted entirely to elongated eyeliner and curled lashes, keeping eyes bright and clear even in full-face close-ups.

Interacting with the shooting setting offered creative inspiration via the background rockery and pond. Given more time, exploring more poses by the outdoor pool—such as leaning over the water or resting against railings—would be wonderful. Dappled light filtering through leaves onto sleeve cuffs and hair ornaments creates deeply poetic imagery. This shoot captured several such moments, especially the half-covered face and sleeve interactions blending light, shadow, and demeanor.

Through this shoot, I realized traditional Chinese gardens are an ideal location for ancient-style cosplay. Red pillars act as visual frames centering the character, while painted ceiling details enrich background colors and elevate cultural flair. This is my sharing for this photo set, carrying the essence of medicinal herbs and nature.
