This time I portrayed Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries, where the core of this photoshoot was exploring scenic color contrast and lighting ambiance. What attracted me most about this outfit was the striking visual contrast between the eye-catching Green hair styling and the red wooden railings, perfectly matching the character's mysterious demeanor. For shooting, we chose a corridor in a classical garden, utilizing the foreground red railings to create spatial depth, which, paired with the shallow depth of field from a wide aperture, made the character stand out completely against the background's natural greenery in this Chinese-style photography session. I handled the entire makeup styling myself. Since the character design leans towards calm composure and intellect, the eye makeup received special attention—deepening the contrast between reddish-orange eyeshadow and blue contact lenses, while the skin foundation was kept translucent and fair to complement the green hair, paired with generous blush to add lively agility. In terms of attire, the teal off-the-shoulder fabric combined with dark green horizontal stripes offers exceptional drape and material texture, and the green beaded necklace at the neck served as a key accent. The lighting during the shoot was fantastic, with sunlight filtering through treetops onto hair strands, giving the hair a brilliant sheen. The photographer mastered backlighting and side-backlighting brilliantly, sculpting delicate contours under complex natural light. The black folding fan in hand was not only the character's core prop but also anchored my facial expressions and body language, helping me better capture that calm, slightly inquisitive look. I handled most of the post-processing myself: to preserve realism, I focused on retaining natural skin texture, only subtly unifying the ambient tones and slightly boosting the chromatic collision between the red railings and teal garments. Post-editing mainly refined the ambient environment colors, aiming to get as close as possible to the classical, luminous light-and-shadow effects seen by the naked eye while avoiding the plastic feel of over-smoothing. My state of mind on the shooting day was very relaxed; being thoroughly familiar with every detail of this Traditional style cosplay styling allowed me to flow seamlessly from hair adjustments to posing. Seeing the final results, using ambient light and color contrast to express the character's ambiance was deeply satisfying. Presenting Maomao's personality from The Apothecary Diaries in such a clear, classically resonant form was truly a wonderful experience.
