Stepping into this neon-lit gaming district, I become the tsundere kitty Chinatsu—the one who says she hates it, yet always wants to hang out with everyone. The white short-sleeved shirt paired with a red star tie offers a classic academy-style mashup, but the black multi-layered ruffled skirt and leather leg straps instantly max out the functional and rebellious feel of this outfit. My absolute favorite is this pair of pink-and-white striped loose socks, which not only elongate the leg lines but also echo the wristbands of the same color scheme, exuding a lively and playful vibe unique to a Gaming Girl.
Today's photo set is not just a visual record, but a journey where I try to immerse myself deep into her inner world. The glowing pinkish-purple neon lights in the background, randomly placed retro CRT televisions, and the GAMING ZONE sign all strive to build a bizarre world detached from reality. This cutting-edge Cyber neon backdrop actually poses quite a challenge for the photographer's lighting and the model's performance in front of the lens.
To recreate Chinatsu's adorable tsundere charm, I tried many different angles and poses. For example, when sitting on the old television set, I intentionally extended my legs forward and paired the pose with the prop megaphone gun in hand to achieve a subtle, provocative atmosphere. Another example is crouching inside the pink wire shopping cart, where I had to balance my center of gravity carefully—staying steady while getting that playful energy just right.
The Zenless Zone Zero series has always been famous in the Anime cosplay community for its unique artistic style, and the character Chinatsu carries an elusive tsundere charm. My state in front of the set today was aimed at fully bringing out her tsundere cuteness—that habit of saying one thing while meaning another. Although the word "hate" is always on her lips, the subtle care and reliance in her eyes are what make this character most captivating.
Shooting in a neon studio with highly complex ambient lighting is actually no small challenge. Top lighting combined with colorful neon tubes around can easily make skin tones look messy or shadows too harsh if not managed properly. To achieve the clear and clean visual effect seen in this photo set, I carefully balanced additions and subtractions in my makeup: expanding the eyes with eye makeup to enhance the anime feel, while keeping the base light and translucent, paired with natural lip color to neutralize the cold sharpness brought by complex lighting. Only then could Chinatsu's lively demeanor pop out against the high-saturation background.
Slouchy loose socks and thick platform shoes are actually not very easy to move around in during the shoot; every position adjustment required careful steps to maintain that cute and nimble posture. This counts as one of those hidden little struggles in doing cosplay, but seeing the flawless results in the final shots makes everything feel entirely worth it. Being able to briefly overlap with such a charming character in the real world through my own interpretation is an immensely joyful and fulfilling experience in itself.
