[Yumemizuki Mizuki cosplay] The Pastry Chef Under the Cherry Blossoms — Finally Put the Sleeves on Right (Probably)

The theme of this shoot is Yumemizuki Mizuki, that lively and slightly scatterbrained Japanese-style girl from Genshin Impact. When I first received this outfit, I was quite apprehensive because there were simply so many intricate details—the bows on the headpiece, the gradient patterns on the sleeves, and the cords around the waist all required meticulous care. The weather on shoot day was fantastic, with the cherry blossoms in full bloom; sunlight filtering through the petals created absolute perfection in light and shadow for this Sakura Photograph.

However, plenty of hiccups happened on site. For instance, with the thigh ring, I couldn't figure out the right direction at first, fiddling with it back and forth several times before barely snapping it on, only to discover after reviewing the footage that it was still upside down! And as for those wide sleeves, I assumed they were symmetrical and didn't pay attention, only to realize halfway through that the patterns didn't line up because I wore the left and right sleeves on the wrong arms... We burst out laughing on the spot. Zhubao (the master photographer) teased that I was a terminal patient who couldn't tell left from right, haha! It's true—I almost dropped the cake off the tray when raising it.

In terms of posing, I wanted to capture some dynamic motion this time, so I chose a leg-lift spin that retained the character's nimble grace while showcasing the layers of the costume. As the skirt and cuffs fluttered in the breeze, the camera captured several wonderfully natural snapshots. During post-processing, Zhubao added some drifting petals and lens flare halos to give the entire frame a vibrant spring ambiance, though I personally prefer the clean, translucent texture of the raw shots in Anime-style photography.

The fabric of the costume is a slightly lustrous satin, featuring a modified kimono neckline paired with a black choker and gold pendant, striking a balance between traditional elegance and 2D anime playfulness. The small heart badge on the skirt and the swirl patterns on the arms were applied by hand, showing genuine care in every detail. To maintain the mid-air suspended pose during shooting, I jumped repeatedly until my knees felt a bit sore, but seeing the final photos made every effort worthwhile.

Additionally, huge thanks to photo retoucher @SadGreenCatLIN for their immense patience—not only helping adjust angles, but constantly encouraging me to pose with confidence and freedom. Although there were many wardrobe mix-ups in this Yumemizuki Mizuki cosplay, they made the entire process brimming with joy. Doing cosplay is inherently about happiness; there's no need to chase absolute perfection, as little blunders become part of precious memories.

Lastly, Yumemizuki Mizuki has an easygoing, healing aura, and I hope the little imperfections and raw authenticity in front of the lens convey that carefree spirit of enjoying the moment. Photography is the art of capturing fleeting moments, while cosplay is the magic that allows us to briefly step away from everyday life and immerse ourselves in another character's world. The cherry blossom backdrop matched the character's color palette beautifully—the gentle collision of pink-purple and light blue is so soothing.
