From the makeup trial onward, the fabrics for these outfits were chosen with great care. The bamboo leaf patterns on the cheongsam on the left feature 3D embroidery, while the cuffs of the Hanfu on the right also have rich details. To stay true to character settings, we spent a lot of thought on the hairstyles—the two dragon horns in different colors required specialized braiding techniques to conceal the wig caps, ensuring nothing was exposed when turning our heads.
On the day of the shoot, we arrived early at the venue, choosing a traditional Chinese courtyard with wooden latticework and glass reflections. Close-ups shot through the glass had incredible texture, with the background lighting and glass reflections adding a layer of narrative depth to the photos. The pink pom-pom on Jie was the biggest challenge—it kept swaying while walking, so we had to secure it firmly with bobby pins without making it look too rigid, taking a long time to adjust during close-up shots. The tips of Jun's wig featured a golden gradient that looked dynamic and vivid under lighting. Meanwhile, Shu in the green modified cheongsam naturally exuded a gentle scholar vibe, perfectly blending into the atmosphere simply by standing there.
After all, creating a poster-style three-person composition required crucial coordination in positioning. We had to ensure we didn't block each other's faces while using arm postures to create spatial depth. Makeup was also refined through multiple discussions; both the matte finish of the base makeup and the directional lines of the eye makeup were meant to highlight the contradictory mix of aloofness and gentleness in the characters. The side-swept bangs, the forehead gem, and the pointed ears—every single detail had to be repeatedly checked to match angles.
In truth, the most demanding part of a group cosplay is not individual styling, but visual harmony. Because of our contrasting color palettes (blue-and-white, light green, white-and-green), we used unified warm lighting and warm post-processing tones to give the imagery a serene, tranquil feel. Working in seamless synergy, we adjusted poses as we shot, perfectly capturing that sense of calm and stability shared between the teacher sister, law sister, and farming sister.
