[Ellen Joe cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero: Zhanjiang location photoshoot

This Zhanjiang location photoshoot for Ellen Joe cosplay from Zenless Zone Zero was set in Zhanjiang. Before heading out, I checked the weather forecast: cloudy turning clear with pleasant temperatures. Upon arriving at the shooting location, the lighting was even better than anticipated. After 3 or 4 PM, the sun began to descend; the light was no longer the harsh, direct glare of midday, but turned soft and warm, brushing against my profile and bathing both the subject and the backdrop in golden tones.

To faithfully portray Ellen Joe, a great deal of thought went into the styling. The wig was black, transitioning into vibrant red gradient highlights at the tips—one of the character's defining signatures. Several silver bobby pins were clipped to the left side of the hair, complemented by a black choker featuring a silver pendant around my neck; every detail had to be on point. For the top, I wore a basic white collared shirt with the top button unfastened, collar slightly open, and sleeves rolled up to the elbows to cultivate an effortless, relaxed vibe. On the bottom, I paired it with a navy blue pleated mini skirt with fine white trim along the hem, accented by a black leather belt with a square silver buckle at the waist. Sheer Black stockings and platform leather shoes with metal buckles were also key elements of the styling, visually elongating my leg proportions nicely.

The shoot focused primarily on two locations: a rooftop and an outdoor escalator. On the rooftop, I sat across the sloping roof tiles with my legs crossed, propping one hand on the side for balance while using the other to sweep back my hair. The upward low-angle shot was a real test of expression management; the slightest lapse in focus could look dull or break character. To channel Ellen Joe's blend of languid detachment and dangerous allure, my gaze drifted slightly to the side rather than staring blankly at the lens. For the escalator shot, I leaned directly against the glass side panel, utilizing reflections off metal and glass to enhance the cold, urban edge of the frame. Standing on the moving escalator required setting a higher shutter speed to ensure crisp sharpness, taking several tries to capture a satisfying candid moment for this Anime cosplay.

The greatest variables in outdoor location shooting are always light and surroundings. Zhanjiang's clear blue skies paired with white clouds yielded high color contrast, requiring minimal post-processing color grading. After sunset, the lighting ratio drops drastically, so we hurried to wrap up the primary shots during daylight. The entire shoot was quite physically demanding, especially climbing across the rooftop in platform shoes and a skirt. To seize that brief, tender glow before twilight during this Zhanjiang location photoshoot, we scouted the site beforehand and repeatedly adjusted camera heights, seeking angles that avoided visual clutter while showcasing the subject's lines. Wardrobe upkeep was equally critical: every time I sat down or stood up, I smoothed out the skirt hem and adjusted the Black stockings to prevent awkward creases in frame. Still, seeing the final images with their cool, retro aesthetic, every ounce of effort felt profoundly worthwhile.
