[Marisa cosplay] Touhou Project: A Flying Journey Across the Vast Grassland

For this shoot, we chose an alpine grassy slope with very strong winds; climbing up here carrying a broomstick and this voluminous dress was truly a test of physical stamina. We used the R6 II paired with an 85L lens throughout—the large-aperture prime lens maintained exceptionally stable focus during shooting. Because of the gale, the broom prop was difficult to hold steady, often forcing me to balance on a single leg while controlling the skirt so it wouldn't flutter out of control. The entire outfit has numerous intricate details: a black corset paired with generous lace trims, plus a wide-brimmed hat that had to be held with one hand to prevent it from being blown away by the wind.

The compositions stepping on rocks were quite demanding, especially the full-profile shots where the photographer had to lie flat on the ground to capture that soaring, mid-air flight sensation I envisioned. The White stockings and platform lace-up shoes matched the black-and-white dress style seamlessly, beautifully accentuating the leg lines. Since lighting conditions across the grassland shifted rapidly, reflectors had limited effect, so we primarily relied on constantly adjusting positions to ensure even facial illumination.

To align with the theme of a magical girl's journey and flying on a broomstick (Marisa cosplay from Touhou Project), we selected several dynamic profile angles with an airborne feel. In post-processing, separating the saturation of the sky's clouds and the grassy meadow made the scene look much cleaner and more refreshing. I truly admire photographers who can capture epic shots in such an Outdoor photography setting, as every shutter press required waiting for the wind to subside slightly to keep the hat and hair neat. The entire shoot felt like a slightly chaotic adventure, but the finished Cosplay photoshoot results turned out great, creating a wonderful contrast against this opulent Lolita-style ensemble.
