Today's photoset features Kinomoto Sakura's pink and white combat suit. This is a classic look from the Cardcaptor Sakura series that I had planned to do for a long time. To achieve the expected shoot results, the preparation of the costume focused heavily on the tailoring and detail pairing. The white sections use a fabric with a certain level of crispness, ensuring that the ruffles on the hem expand naturally without collapsing. The matching large pink bowknot on the head features an internal shaping layer to maintain a beautiful curve before the lens, while its placement was adjusted according to the wearing angle to reduce the visual center-of-gravity shift caused by wearing the wig.
The wig features an orange-red leaning towards brown tone. To match the character's image, I focused on handling the proportions of the bangs and the texture of the hair strands, letting it present a natural, slightly wavy state. The makeup is based on a clean and translucent look, with eyeliner extending out at the corners to emphasize bright eyes, and a relatively soft shade for the lip color. The overall makeup style aims to highlight the character's unique trait of coexisting energy and gentleness.
The shooting scene was chosen during the season when pink muhly grass is in full bloom, a plant whose colors naturally harmonize with the pink elements of the character's outfit. The shoot adopted a relatively low angle, utilizing the volume of the plants to fill the edges of the frame, creating an atmosphere of being wrapped in a pink sea of flowers. Since the ambient light was quite soft, the transition between light and dark was very natural, which brought a lot of convenience to the post-processing; basically, only basic color restoration was done, preserving the hazy and gentle tones of the live scene as much as possible.
Throughout the entire shooting process, grass seeds and pollen easily stuck to the white clothing, which was a minor issue that needed constant attention. I brought a small brush on site to clean them off, ensuring the neatness of the frame. When creating the photoset, I didn't deliberately strike complex or stiff poses, but rather chose movements that could embody the character's battle state or naturally blend into the environment. The costume itself has a strong sense of design, so walking around in the flower sea, looking back, or touching the flower spikes with a hand could naturally generate a casual rhythm in the imagery.
When shooting this type of work with a clear theme, thorough preparation beforehand is the key to ensuring the quality of the photoset. From the makeup style and wig shaping to location scouting and outfit coordination, every step needs to consider the final visual presentation. Although this pink and white combat suit has refreshing colors, the design details actually heavily test the texture of the raw photos. Through this outdoor photography experience, I also gained a deeper understanding of the character—that underneath the glamorous exterior, she still retains her original aspiration and agility. I hope these photos can convey my dedication during the creation process, as well as the authentic charm of this outfit under natural light.
