For this cosplay shoot at the 10.02 Type-Moon Only event, I chose Nero's Gymnastics uniform styling. The core piece of the outfit is a cropped white short-sleeved T-shirt with red ribbed trim along the collar and sleeves, printed with black Japanese kana across the chest. The lower half features form-fitting red athletic bloomers with white double stripes along the sides. Footwear consists of white gymnastics shoes with red accents paired with white crew socks. The red-and-white palette popped brilliantly under the expo hall lighting. For accessories, I wore a gold medal on a tricolor red-white-and-blue ribbon around my neck and a red athletic headband over the wig; blonde short hair combined with green contact lenses and dark nail polish elevated the details.
The shooting took place inside the convention hall. Concrete flooring and industrial overhead lights formed the primary background. Photographer Xiao Feng skillfully handled the complex ambient light by using off-camera flashes to stop down the background exposure while preserving highlights on the subject and natural skin textures. To emphasize the athletic nature of the Gymnastics uniform, a lot of thought went into pose design. A standing high vertical kick and a split assisted by a black folding stool served as the centerpieces of the entire set. The split not only demanded physical flexibility but also required keeping the garment flat and secure to prevent awkward wardrobe malfunctions. The red-and-white athletic shorts drew full visual attention to the contours of the legs during splits and high kicks.
Beyond high-difficulty physical poses, the red-and-white banner served as an essential prop. Waving the flag injected dynamic sports-competition energy into the composition. For a close-up seated on the folding stool, the photographer opted for a low-angle upward perspective, beautifully elongating the legs while using the cut of the bloomers and the cropped midriff top to capture flattering body proportions naturally. To diversify angles, we adjusted positioning continuously, using equipment flight cases and aisles as backdrops while dodging crowds.
The actual shooting process was physically demanding. Navigating convention crowds while carrying props, changing outfits, and executing intense stretches drained a lot of stamina. Before each floor pose, I had to smooth the hem of the shorts to prevent bunching or awkward wrinkles—vital details when wearing a gymnastics uniform. Temperatures in the venue ran warm, and moving constantly caused sweat that threatened the makeup, requiring frequent touch-ups to maintain camera-ready polish. Walking around the hall in this outfit brought warm interactions and photo requests from many fellow fans. When embodying Nero, I prioritized projecting radiant confidence and boundless vitality, keeping facial expressions relaxed yet boldly expressive, matched by sharp, decisive body language that echoed the lightweight sportswear.
From location selection to pose execution, the entire set revolved around the athletic flair of the Gymnastics uniform and the visual impact of the red-and-white theme. Huge thanks to photographer Xiao Feng for the on-site guidance and split-second captures, documenting this beloved styling at the convention so thoroughly. These Convention photos preserve the authentic atmosphere while testing my camera presence, and I look forward to exploring more athletic-themed looks and accumulating further shooting experience in the future.
