[Onikata Kayoko cosplay] That Unique Silver-White and Red Eyes in Blue Archive

"Sensei, can you stay with me a little longer?" This was an atmospheric line that came up spontaneously during the shoot. Since everyone loves this kind of languid yet cool interaction, I'll try to use this set of photos to take you into my state of mind on that day at the CPSP anime convention.

The day of the shoot was actually overcast, and the outside of the venue featured expansive grey hard pavements and light-colored architectural facades. This cool-toned backdrop perfectly matched the visual style I wanted to present. The outfit I wore was Onikata Kayoko's standard look, but in terms of overall coordination, I leaned toward everyday tension. The lustrous black slip dress was the core of the entire look, featuring a slit hem design with a velvet-and-leather sheen that gave it great dimensional texture under the outdoor natural light of the convention. Layered over it was a loose beige knit cardigan, intentionally worn off-the-shoulder to hang casually across the shoulder or drape around the elbow. This not only broke up the monotony of the black dress, but also struck a delicate balance between gentleness and coolness.

In terms of details, the black leather choker around my neck was specifically chosen with a pearl chain pendant, creating a dark, layered resonance with the black horn headpiece and the red stripe accents at the tail. The wig featured a blend of silver-white with black streaks, pinned at the bangs with black hair clips, which, paired with the red contact lenses I wore, instantly sharpened my gaze. When styling this character, I placed great emphasis on eye makeup to ensure that the camera captured both her aloof distance and a natural, lived-in feel without appearing rigid.

The advantage of Convention photos is the authentic lighting, relying entirely on natural sky light to sculpt facial contours and hair strands. Whether in full-body standing shots, half-body close-ups, or casual snapshots while crouching or sitting, I did my best to keep my posture relaxed. Although Onikata Kayoko is portrayed in the game lore as an easily shy yet cool-looking girl, I feel that when doing an Anime cosplay of her in real life, one doesn't need to be rigidly serious; that seemingly casual yet self-assertive attitude is actually much closer to the character's core.

The synergy with the photographer during the shoot was also seamless. Waves of convention crowds kept passing by, and we ran into many fellow fans who came together out of love for the franchise. After standing for half the afternoon in this heavy, detailed costume, my legs were definitely aching, but the moment I saw the preview photos, all exhaustion was replaced with pure excitement. What I'm most satisfied with in this set is the dynamic flow of the sweater while walking and the moment the hair caught the wind—that vibrant vitality is precisely what makes Convention photos more moving than studio shoots.

As a cosplayer active across various conventions, I pay close attention to overall fidelity and textural detail in every shoot—from trimming the wig and fitting the costume dimensions to positioning the boots and laces, I repeatedly fine-tune every step in front of the mirror beforehand. There are many characters in Blue Archive, but a character like Onikata Kayoko, with her unique dressing style and subtle tsundere charm, is truly worth savoring. This photo set records not just visual resemblance, but more importantly, the sense of quiet companionship belonging to this character in a daily convention setting.
