This time, I'm bringing you a set of Swimsuit Cosplay photos of Takanashi Hoshino from Blue Archive.
To restore the character's dynamic feel as much as possible, a lot of effort went into trimming the pink wig beforehand, especially the layers at the ends and the air bangs, aiming to create a soft summer atmosphere. The colored contacts chosen are classic heterochromia eyes, with yellow on the left and blue on the right, making my expression closer to the lazy and childish nature of the original setting. The outfit features a matching blue-and-white sailor-style off-the-shoulder dress with a ruffled hem, paired with her iconic blue bow and that plump blue crossbody bag. The overall blue and white color scheme feels incredibly refreshing.
The shooting location was in a public area at a convention venue with many passersby around. However, the photographer very cleverly used a telephoto lens and appropriate camera angles to blur the cluttered background, perfectly highlighting the subject. The highly reflective mirror-like floor on set became an excellent element for the visuals, especially during sitting and standing poses, creating symmetrical reflections that greatly enriched the layers of the frame. In this photo set, I tried leaning against a school desk, sitting casually with legs apart on a chair, and curling up cross-legged on the seat, all aiming to reflect Hoshino's carefree daily vibe. Especially on the white plush blanket, kneeling barefoot combined with the high-key lighting on set presented a soft yet slightly ethereal transparent texture overall.
When processing the photos in post, I didn't want to ruin the original light and shadow relationships, so I kept some of the floor's reflective texture, making the colors as light and clean as possible to highlight the harmony of the main pink, white, and blue tones. Throughout the process of convention photography, the costume materials of the props and the wig needed fine-tuning at different angles. For example, the angle of the halo and the position of the crossbody bag had to be carefully confirmed before each shutter press to prevent the frame from looking cluttered.
I think this cosplay experience was absolutely amazing. Being able to present such a swimsuit form full of summer colors through my own performance is highly satisfying. Although convention photos face limited conditions, capturing shots with care always brings plenty of inspiration and unexpected surprises. In the future, I might also challenge other forms of this character to continuously enhance my understanding of her.
