[Sun Shangxiang Cosplay] The Girl Tyrant of Honor of Kings Appears in Person

Putting on this bright yellow battle dress of Sun Shangxiang, paired with black patent leather platform shoes and black tights, I arrived at the iJoy Comic Convention. Sitting on a professional metal photography stand to pose in multiple stances feels like fulfilling my long-held wish to truly recreate this Honor of Kings marksman.

This cosplay outfit features highly striking color coordination, with the extensive bright yellow forming a strong visual contrast against the sky-blue star motif on the chest and the black dividing lines, making it instantly recognizable. The high collar of the top brings in modified elements of a traditional qipao, while the cut-out stitching and detached sleeve covers accommodate the physical demands of dynamic poses. When wearing the black leather gloves, the range of motion of my hands required a bit of attention, but once I adapted to the slightly tight, wrapped sensation, it instead brought out a sharp, cool aura.

The massive yellow bow hair accessories on both sides of my head and the double buns are the soul of this styling. Not only did the wig need to be secured firmly, but I also had to adjust the fluffiness of the hair to make the overall head shape look three-dimensional and full. Paired with green circle lenses, it beautifully captures the character's lively and slightly proud expression.

The biggest highlight of this shoot is the pairing of the black patent leather platform Mary Jane shoes with black tights. The shoes themselves have thick, high heels and carry a significant weight. They not only elongate the lower body proportions when standing, but even when sitting with crossed legs on a high stool, the reflective textures of the black leather shoes and black tights create a perfect color transition with the bright yellow dress. However, platform shoes put high demands on ankle support; when posing with crossed legs, I had to keep my center of gravity firmly balanced on the supporting foot to make the posture look effortless.

The photographer, @晨昏光影, adopted a lighting setup common in convention photography—overhead lights combined with a reflective umbrella. This kind of light hitting the glossy patent leather and leather gloves created distinct highlights, enhancing the overall silhouette and texture. Sitting on the black metal stool, I didn't need to force any facial expressions or strike exaggerated body poses. Whether pointing at the lens with one index finger, touching my cheek, or finally crossing my arms over my chest, I strove to bring my state as close as possible to the confident and rebellious vibe of the game.

The current convention hall environment is quite cluttered, but that is also a part of recording reality. Thanks to this bright color scheme and exquisite styling, it indeed has extremely high recognizability in the crowd. The biggest challenge of cosplaying this character doesn't lie in the sheer volume of the clothes, but in conveying her aura through sitting poses—it has to look casual yet never slouchy. Every time I adjusted the opening angle of my shoulders or the placement of my legs, I was exploring a more vivid side of this character. Although walking back and forth in the exhibition hall in platform shoes was indeed quite tiring, seeing the classic color scheme rendered in the final frames made all the hustle completely worth it.
