[Kokomi Cosplay] First Fitting Experience as the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island

The wig stylist shipped it surprisingly fast, so as soon as I received the package, I couldn't wait to start this cosplay fitting. The overall design of this outfit is filled with the airy and agile feel of the ocean, so the very first thing I did after getting it was to put it on and feel the fabric and fit.

To start with overall impressions, the primary palette consists of gradient transitions between dark blue, light blue, and white, with extensive use of semi-transparent tulle. When first putting it on, I found the fit around the shoulders and upper body to be great; the off-the-shoulder design nicely accentuates the lines of the collarbone and shoulders without feeling restrictive. The large, light-blue bow on the chest acts as the visual center, and the cyan-blue gem brooch set in the middle has fantastic texture with refined metal border detailing that avoids any cheap feel.

The main highlight of the upper body is the broad, water-ripple lantern sleeve. The cuffs feature layered ruffles alongside white wave patterns and dot prints on the fabric. When I stretched out my arms, the sleeves dropped naturally with a lovely sense of airiness, truly restoring that flowing visual effect from the official splash art. The lower skirt hem also features an asymmetrical cut with layered light tulle resembling sea waves along the edges that sways gracefully with every step, making it extremely lively.

To get closer to the character, I put on the matching patterned white tights. The curved lines and circle patterns on the tights really test printing precision, and the positioning and scale on this pair are quite reasonable. Paired with the long twin-tail wig featuring a light pink to ice blue gradient, the outline of the entire look immediately came to life. The animal-ear decorations on top of the wig also carried white-bordered detailing, resulting in very natural color transitions overall. The wig stylist processed the colors meticulously—there are no harsh color block seams at the gradient boundaries, and the hair strands were pre-styled, making them less prone to frizz.

During the cosplay fitting, I ran into a minor hiccup with the ring accessory on the back. Since I was doing the fitting alone, fastening accessories on my back was extremely difficult, and after several attempts, I couldn't securely fix it in place. Considering the inconvenience for selfie angles, I decided to leave that piece out for now, but I will definitely bring a helper to solve this problem during the official outdoor photoshoot later. The choker part features black lace paired with a blue gem pendant, which creates a wonderful visual contrast against the open skin of the neck and shoulders when worn. I also added short white gloves, a delicate touch that adds an extra layer of refinement to the complete look.

Throughout the fitting, I tried imitating a few iconic splash art poses. Because both the sleeves and skirt are made of light, breathable fabric, turning around or raising my arms quickly creates beautiful flowing arcs with the sleeves and skirt, making candid snapshots look effortlessly dynamic. However, because parts of the garment are quite thin, shooting under indoor overhead lighting causes the blue-violet tulle to easily overexpose into harsh white highlights, making lighting technique quite crucial. Additionally, due to the many layers on the lower half, sitting down requires carefully arranging the skirt position to avoid crushing the underlying tulle into unsightly creases.

Overall, this cosplay fitting served as a great preliminary test and break-in session. The costume sizing essentially fit my body type well—there was no digging into skin or slipping at the shoulders, and the chest gem emblem was firmly secured. Once the wig and choker were put on, the entire character vibe immediately clicked into place. Though missing the back accessory meant it didn't reach 100% full perfection, recording these fitting logs remains an indispensable part of my roleplay journey.

Once the weekend comes and I meet up with friends for the official outdoor shoot day, I will wear every single accessory from this shrine maiden costume properly, paired with a fitting location and lighting setup, in hopes of capturing photos that better suit this aesthetic style. The light-colored wig prepared by the stylist also fills me with anticipation for the upcoming location shoot, and I believe it will integrate seamlessly into the surrounding atmosphere.
