[Firefly Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail — Capturing a Moment of Tenderness in the Sea of Flowers

Having just finished this Firefly photoshoot, I really wanted to talk with everyone about the experience right away.

The overall tone this time leaned toward a warm-toned retro oil painting style. To align with Firefly's gentle demeanor, I took a minimalist approach to makeup and hair. The wig wasn't overly combed, preserving a slightly messy yet fluffy volume. The blue and white ribbons on the hairpiece match her canonical setting, but when actually wearing them, I tilted the angle slightly so they draped naturally along hair strands rather than looking rigid.

Costume-wise, this combination of a dark grey-green blazer jacket and white inner layer heavily tested tailoring. The jacket's shoulder lines needed to be crisp without appearing overly stiff, as Firefly embodies a soft yet stubborn resilience. The dark blue striped ribbon at the collar was the finishing touch; I adjusted the knot repeatedly to ensure the bow looked full without stealing the show. Below, the peeking white dress hem with black panelling added rich color layering to the entire ensemble.

Prop and scene arrangement served as the main highlight of this shoot. The large bouquet in front of me was carefully curated by the photographer the day before. White hydrangeas served as the visual center, creating a lovely color echo with surrounding lilies, red roses, and hanging white floral sprigs. Holding the vase tested arm strength—the ceramic vase filled with flowers and water was far heavier than it appeared. To keep hand muscles from looking overly tense, I relaxed my wrists and gently supported the base with my fingertips, which yielded a natural, relaxed feel in the shots.

The butterfly mirror, retro picture frames, and oil paintings in the background were all specially selected props, together crafting what felt like an old study or greenhouse corner living in memory. To complement this mood, we used warm yellow side-back light to cast a pretty rim halo along hair strands while keeping soft light on the face to avoid harsh shadows.

This shoot took a long time, changing lighting angles several times. Because the bouquet was quite large, balancing facial expressions with bouquet completeness required constant composition tweaking. Ultimately, I picked this shot looking directly into the camera while holding the flowers, feeling it best conveys her quiet yet internally strong state.

There was also a fun little mishap during shooting: the dangling floral sprigs kept snagging on the jacket buttons, so every pose adjustment required delicate care. But seeing the warm, subtle glow in the final result made every hassle worthwhile. Perhaps that is the joy of casual cosplay—every set carries unique details and behind-the-scenes stories. Though exhausting, seeing the moment in the frame where I completely transform into another person brings genuine happiness. I hope you can also feel the tranquil peace within this photo.
