[Dialyn Cosplay] Zenless Zone Zero Dialyn Recreation: The Monochromatic Combat Maiden in a Classical Garden

Recreating Dialyn from Zenless Zone Zero was an ambitious undertaking right from the prep stage. Followers had frequently asked when I would reprise this styling, so with favorable weather and the ideal location aligning, we locked in the date. The outfit is packed with intricate tailoring: styling and braiding the dual-tone black-and-white wig alone consumed hours, while the twin black-and-white hair ornaments accented in crimson were sculpted entirely by hand. The garments incorporate metallic buckles, utilitarian straps, traditional red frog buttons, and golden tassels, radiating a vibrant 2D anime aesthetic.

To authentically replicate prop textures, the colossal circular scythe weapon was counterbalanced for weight, yet holding it aloft across varied battle stances still required immense physical exertion. The shoot day was rather blustery, whipping wig strands into disarray; fortunately, photographer Jingyiyiyi was exceptional at shutter timing, catching pristine, dynamic in-between moments amid shifting gusts. The location was set within a heritage-style Chinese pavilion surrounded by classical colonnades—the dark aged timber pillars and railings crafted a striking architectural contrast against this cyberpunk-infused neo-Chinese wardrobe. Lighting was exceptional on set: backlighting traced crisp contours across the White stockings and black shorts, generating bold visual contrast.

During post-production, we layered delicate particulate overlays resembling drifting embers, snowflakes, or rain droplets to enrich environmental mood. Freezing high-energy poses—such as balancing on a single leg, mid-air leaps, and resting one boot atop a garden bench—nearly led to twisted ankles. The black-and-gold platform boots greatly elongated my proportions, but they offered unforgiving stability, demanding constant core engagement to stay upright and leaving my abs and thighs sore for days. For Image 4's front-kick action with outstretched arms, we ran multiple takes to capture the exact arc of flying tresses.

Reviewing camera playback, seeing daylight caressing the leg lines, leather sheens, and textile textures confirmed that weathering the chilly wind and hauling heavy props was completely worthwhile. The outfit's design excels in motion—asymmetrical spliced sleeves and waist draping provided dynamic fluidity before the lens. Reprising Dialyn was both an answer to my community and an authentic milestone of my current craft. From refining the makeup—such as blending reddish-pink eyeshadow and crimson contacts to sharpen her fierce gaze, down to wearing asymmetric gold, blue, and red drop earrings—every nuance was deliberated. I hope this work conveys my passion, and I look forward to bringing even more diverse characters to life in upcoming Outdoor cosplay shoots.
