[Kagome Higurashi Cosplay] A Promise of Inuyasha Spanning Nearly Twenty Years, Freezing the 2025 Cherry Blossom Season

This set of photos is my Kagome Higurashi cosplay cherry blossom outdoor scene photoshoot taken in the spring of 2025. Speaking of the anime Inuyasha, my earliest contact with it was back in 2007. Back then, my biggest expectation after returning home from school every day was to wait in front of the TV to watch the adventures of Kagome and Inuyasha. At that time, I thought to myself, how could this girl wearing a sailor uniform and carrying a long bow be so cute and dazzling. She is optimistic and resilient, never afraid of difficulties and challenges. That fondness for Kagome has been kept in my heart ever since. When I was a child, feeling that I could be as cool as her was a completely unreachable dream.

After all these years, looking at this sailor uniform in my closet, I finally made up my mind to shoot a childhood dream-fulfilling outdoor photoset during this warm spring season of 2025. This is not just simple role-playing, but more like a cross-temporal meeting with my younger self. This outdoor shoot was timed perfectly with the full bloom of the cherry blossoms. I feel the compatibility between cherry blossoms and Kagome is exceptionally high. With pink petals scattered all over my shoulders and a gentle breeze brushing through my hair, at that very moment, it truly felt like traveling back to the Sengoku period.

For the costume and prop preparation, I chose this sailor uniform from Jiuyiting. The green pleated skirt, white long-sleeved top, and red bow tie at the collar are highly accurate to the original work's setting in details. The overall color scheme looks incredibly fresh and versatile under the sunlight. The matching long stockings have a great texture and leg-flattering effect, filling the entire Sailor uniform JK look with youthful vitality. Kagome's iconic long bow is the soul of this look. Since the prop itself is quite long and carries some weight, handling it and posing on set indeed tested my sense of balance, but the moment I gripped the bow, the character's heroic spirit naturally shone through.

During the shoot, the photographer also put a lot of thought into the lighting selection and composition. Because there were so many branches in full bloom, it could easily look cluttered if not handled carefully. Therefore, we heavily utilized low-angle shots and used large-aperture lenses to blur the layered petals, which beautifully merged the character with the sea of flowers while showcasing the scene's depth. For some frames, we specifically used backlighting. Sunlight penetrated the petals and fell onto my head, naturally forming a faint golden rim light around my hair, making the image texture both translucent and gentle.

In terms of expression, besides recreating the energetic girl vibe from the anime, I also wanted to incorporate some of my personal understanding of the character. For example, looking into the distance with the bow in hand, or slightly tilting my head back with closed eyes to feel the breath of the spring breeze. I believe good Cosplay photography is not just about wearing the right clothes, but more importantly, about capturing that sense of ease and spirit of the character under specific scenarios. Shooting outdoors is actually very physically demanding, walking back and forth among the flowers with a long bow, and repeatedly adjusting postures to find the best angle. Yet, the instant this final photoset came out and I saw the pink cherry blossoms, the refreshing sailor uniform, and the iconic bow and arrow blending together flawlessly, that sense of satisfaction was truly irreplaceable.

From 2007 to now, nearly twenty years have passed, yet those familiar anime characters remain vivid in my heart. Being able to preserve these spring scenes through my favorite character is indeed a highly romantic and meaningful thing. This set of photos is not only a restoration of the character but also a genuine record of my youthful days of anime-watching. I also hope that through these photos, I can convey that vibrant, youthful spirit overflowing with spring across the fields.
