[Yixuan cosplay] High-Angle Perspective and Textural Presentation in Zenless Zone Zero

Standing on an aluminum ladder at the Anime convention venue in this Yixuan uniform, the cool-to-the-touch glossy black jacket reflects delicate luster under the lights. This low-angle upward shot boldly elongates vertical body proportions, and the perspective of Black stockings paired with high heels accentuates the leg lines significantly. To match the modern aesthetic of Zenless Zone Zero, I opted for a sharp, cool tone in the makeup, hoping to evoke an aloof, composed atmosphere alongside the glossy black fabric.

In fact, garments made from glossy materials present numerous challenges during actual production. The biggest worry is uneven orange-peel reflections, so before shooting, I repeatedly used a garment steamer along the leather grain to achieve the sleek, smooth look seen today. The white skirt has a wide hemline, and because of constantly climbing up and down the ladder, undergarment safety precautions were well managed. Regarding accessories, such as the metal rings at the wrists and the blue accents around the collar, I tried to stay as close as possible to the original character design, even though some taped parts were relatively heavy and required constant repositioning throughout the event.

During the shoot, situated inside a spacious hall with a massive ceiling, the overhead lights were extremely bright, presenting quite a challenge for camera exposure. However, photos taken in such high-brightness settings—especially for Black stockings and leather textures—actually enrich the gradation between light and shadow lines. The photographer specifically had me sit high up on the ladder and shot upward from a low angle, effectively eliminating cluttered booths and crowds from the background to give the composition an expansive, architectural feel.

Climbing and sitting steadily on an aluminum ladder is genuinely a test of balance. To ensure safety while maintaining the character's composed demeanor—cool on the outside yet warm within—one hand rested gently near my knee while the other held the ladder edge to stabilize my center of gravity. At times, a slight lack of control over movement would cause odd wrinkles to bunch across the chest jacket. To capture the right shot, we had to experiment repeatedly with angles and hand postures on the ladder until finding the most natural, effortless moment.

Cosplaying Yixuan this time was truly a test of capturing the right presence, and a character type I had long wanted to take on. The length and curvature of the white wig required dedicated styling before heading out; otherwise, it would easily get messy in the convention breeze. Furthermore, to maintain facial dimensionality under intense lighting, the contouring and eye makeup intensity were precisely calibrated, creating a stark contrast to daily makeup. All the meticulous preparations were simply meant to present the fullest, most authentic image the moment the camera shutter clicked.

After a full day at the convention, my legs were aching and swollen. But looking back at the preview shots on my phone screen made all that physical effort feel worthwhile. The perspective stretch of the wide-angle lens, combined with the sharp black jacket and white skirt, blended seamlessly with the real-world exhibition hall. Without needing overly complex poses, simply stabilizing my center of gravity and slightly raising my chin allowed the character's signature aura to flow naturally from this outfit and the unique low-angle framing. I hope this authentic on-site experience reaches everyone who sees it.
