[Amu Hinamori cosplay] Shugo Chara! Cosplay Convention Photos Sharing from Changsha Yunchu Anime Convention

Shooting the character Amu Hinamori has been one of my most fulfilling convention experiences lately. When I first received this outfit, I was thinking about how to restore the character's traits as much as possible within the established framework. The pink long-haired wig has a great texture; to keep it from looking rigid, I specially trimmed the bangs and side hair to create an airy feel. The matching red bow is the finishing touch, allowing people to instantly catch the character's core feature. To coordinate with the red and pink tones, I used a pink-toned base makeup, deepened the outer corners of my eyes with red eyeshadow to extend the shape, and paired it with brownish-red colored contacts, giving my gaze a sharp yet childlike look. The red and blue plaid short skirt along with the matching leg warmers are the most eye-catching parts of the whole outfit. Wearing them requires not only good posture, but also letting the hem sway with dynamic beauty when moving around.

On the day of the convention, the foot traffic was heavy, and the lighting inside the venue was complex and variable, posing a considerable challenge for shooting. Fortunately, the photographer Daozhang was very professional, precisely capturing moments with good lighting. The photo compositions were also discussed on the spot. In the fourth photo, the pose of resting one hand on the hip and reaching out towards the lens was actually an attempt to mimic the character's lively, somewhat tsundere, and combat-ready signature posture. For this single pose, I shot over a dozen frames to capture the most natural state. Afterwards, the posture of holding a briefcase that everyone sees reflects a completely different temperament, appearing much calmer. Throughout the shoot, passersby constantly came over to watch, and some even called out the character's name. Gaining recognition from fellow fans made me extremely happy and gave me more confidence in my performance.

I believe what these convention photos showcase is not just an outfit, but an interpretation of the character's personality itself. The courage to refuse to yield to difficulties and to search for one's ideal self, which the character embodies, is actually what I want to convey as well. I crossed paths with many other cosplayers at the convention, interacting and communicating within the exhibition hall. This unique atmosphere of the 2D circle made this event particularly special. For the post-processing of the entire set of photos, including color grading and skin texture retouching, I handled everything myself, hoping to maintain a crisp and natural Japanese style.

During the preparation of this red-and-black plaid uniform, I repeatedly adjusted details like the shirt tie-knot, the rolling of the jacket sleeves, and the black clasps on the leg warmers to ensure they stayed neat while walking around the convention site. Holding the handbag requires mastering the body's center of gravity to make movements look natural and casual. After waiting for so long, finally seeing these photos infused with sweat filled my heart with deep satisfaction. The various minor episodes encountered at the convention, such as hunting for empty spaces to use reflectors and adjusting daily schedules to accommodate this shoot, consumed a lot of physical energy, but that feeling of immersion in the world of the character you portray is hard to replicate in daily life. Throughout the photo set, in the transition of movements—such as reaching both hands forward or turning the head back over the shoulder—I tried to maintain continuity to display the character's agility. If there is a chance next time, I would like to try recreating some of the character's more dynamic combat postures from the anime, or scenes with a stronger storytelling vibe. For those who love this character, being able to portray her in person is a truly blissful thing.
