[Fluttershy cosplay] Spring My Little Pony Paradise: Capturing Pink Magic at the Oriental Pearl Tower

Invited by GERM to attend the My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic Chinese New Year Garden event at the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower City Plaza. The weather that day was extremely sunny, and under the outdoor light, the colors of the entire paradise were even more translucent and dreamlike than imagined. Checking in with this self-styled Fluttershy cosplay Cosplay outfit, the photo success rate throughout the process was incredibly high, making it a truly unique offline experience.

Regarding the makeup and styling this time, I am quite satisfied with retaining Fluttershy's pink long hair setting but making detailed adjustments for daily practicality and spring atmosphere. For the clothing, I chose an off-the-shoulder puff dress that blends light Lolita and floral elements; the combination of light pink and mint green patterns coordinates beautifully with the candy-colored amusement facilities and rainbow stairs on site. For the hairstyle, I used a bit of braiding technique, embellishing both sides with small white flower hair accessories and pinning a few lightweight butterfly decorations on the shoulders and hair ends. When the breeze blows, these small details enhance the agility of the entire look. Although this dress leans toward an ethereal vibe overall, there is completely no sense of restriction when moving around, so wearing it to an ACG expo or a theme park doesn't feel cumbersome at all.

Several interactive photo check-in points were set up inside the paradise. First, I highly recommend the rainbow stairs camera position. Standing on the colored steps with the clear blue sky behind you, the yellow and purplish-red stairs instantly brighten the frame's colors. The rainbow stairs paired with the Oriental Pearl Tower behind not only capture a highly iconic urban landmark but the height difference of the steps themselves also helps elongate the overall body proportions, beautifully showcasing the matching details of the skirt hem and shoes. It can be said to be one of the most classic must-shoot spots at the event.

In addition to the grand scenes, the large theme figures arranged on site also served as great interactive props. For instance, taking photos with that origami-styled purple character model—its exaggerated expression and collage texture generated an interesting contrasting color effect with my usually softer cosplay styling. Slightly turning my body or looking down at the lens during shooting created highly playful frames. Additionally, taking photos with the large plush pony mascot felt very welcoming; the multi-colored backpack and heart decorations it wore gave the overall atmosphere of the photos more energy and childlike fun.

Since I was invited to the event, I naturally had to check out the GERM x My Little Pony collaboration products displayed on site. The shelves were filled with various pink-themed thermoses, water bottles, and peripheral backpacks. The pink pony-patterned backpack I held in my hand is highly practical, printed with "YOU GO, GIRL!" on the front. Paired with this water bottle crossbody bag, it channels that breezy street style found in Disneyland while fitting perfectly with the core of this cosplay. For friends who want to purchase the collaboration merchandise, these small items are not only photogenic but also perfectly suitable for daily commuting without any awkwardness.

Finally, I'd like to share some brief advice for cosplayers or photography enthusiasts planning to check out the spot. Because the outdoor weather is clear and sunny, the contrast between light and shadow on site is relatively large, so it's best to carry a small-sized silver reflector to supplement light for the face and skirt hem. Since the event venue has high color saturation, during post-processing, a softer, high-key tone highlights the theme much better than heavy dark tones. If you want to overlay light-shadow effects and dreaminess later, adding some twinkling butterfly special effects or a soft-focus filter will infuse more spring fairy-tale flavor. The entire site isn't large, but there are many angles and camera positions to shoot from; I suggest reserving 1 to 2 hours to discover different compositions. The spring sunshine is warm, and experiencing such a pink Shanghai pop-up journey under the foot of the Oriental Pearl Tower makes for a beautiful record.
