[Aglaea Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Convention Photos: The Seamstress Under Gorgeous Attire

From pattern making for the costume to capturing these pictures at the convention venue, preparing for this Aglaea Cosplay took nearly two months in total. The wig chosen was a gradient curly style with a white base and yellow tips; to make the yellow transition natural at the ends, I did hand-blended highlights. The golden vine headpiece and small white flowers at the top were actually sculpted from light clay, sprayed with gold powder, and then secured between hair strands using thin copper wire so they could stand securely on this short curly wig.

For the costume material, satin chiffon with a good sheen was ultimately selected so that under various natural lighting and reflectors at the convention, the off-white main color would offer a soft reflection effect in this Cosplay outfit. The most time-consuming part was actually the hollow metal neck collar; because it used quite a bit of material and included snap buttons for securing, its actual weight was rather heavy. If my neck wasn't kept firmly straight, it easily tilted, making standing at the convention all day quite pressing on the shoulders. The rose-gold arm cuffs weren't completely fixed either, utilizing a ribbon-like draping design with inner snap buttons to prevent slipping. Combined with the bright yellow long ribbons hanging from the wrists, the dynamic flowing lines when walking or raising arms nicely recreated the game modeling.

Lighting on the day of the convention was extremely unstable; venue lighting mixed with camera flashes could easily make skin tones pale or overexposed with glare. Therefore, during the photoshoot, I consciously collaborated with the photographer, trying to turn to a relatively soft side-lighting angle. The backless shot looking back in the first photo utilized the dark backdrop to highlight body contours and the metallic texture of the neckpiece. In such an open venue with frequent crowd movement, people would often walk into the frame, so several times we rushed to position within a few seconds of empty space before relaxing facial expressions for the shutter click.

For makeup, light green contact lenses were used. To match the character setting, eyebrow and eyeliner lines were drawn slightly longer, while lip color was kept to a natural mauve pink to avoid heavy makeup. We captured more full-body actions; for instance in Photo 5, because the skirt features a high side slit with an inner white lace underskirt, raising an arm or turning naturally reveals the lace edge. This layering enriches the ensemble's visual elements without feeling dull in this Anime-style photoshoot.

As for posing during shooting, I intentionally refrained from imitating rigid game modeling poses, incorporating my own interpretation of elegance instead. Whether reaching out a hand or looking back quietly, I used a relaxed yet upright posture to showcase this "Seamstress's" composure in these Convention photos. The waist belt was sewn with symmetrical gold vintage vine patterns, and waist fabric pleats were steam-ironed in advance to eliminate cheap-looking creases. The overall output of this Anime-style photoshoot was quite satisfying—the soft fabric texture combined with the heavy metal neckpiece essentially achieved the envisioned final in-game look in this Cosplay outfit.
