[Luo Tianyi Cosplay] Black Car and Checkered Flag, Track Moments in the Rooftop Parking Lot

Selecting the open rooftop parking lot as the location for this racing theme outdoor shoot was mainly due to the relatively even light here and the wide view provided by the high altitude. The urban high-rises in the background combined with the afternoon blue sky naturally foster a modern urban racing atmosphere.

Today I'd like to share the styling ideas for this Luo Tianyi cosplay racing suit. The entire costume uses blue and white as the primary baseline, but introduces many cut-piece elements at the patchworks, such as the black and white grid patterns on the chest, which forms a great visual echo with the checkered flag in hand. The zipper-style neckline design combined with a black short choker adds a touch of cool motorcycle flair to the originally soft elements of the Vsinger character.

Regarding accessories and props, the blue and black color-blocked bow on the head is a highly eye-catching element that neutralizes the toughness of the clothing. When shooting this kind of theme, this checkered flag is an indispensable prop. Not only because it is a symbol of racing, but more importantly, when the flag unfolds in the wind or is held at an angle, it can break the stiffness of the original standing posture and add a clear visual line of motion to the frame.

In the specific arrangement of movements, it coordinated with the full paint reflection of the black sports car nearby. Like the posture in the cover photo with one leg raised and holding the flagpole, it actually wants to simulate the moment of waving the flag during a race. There just happened to be a gust of wind during the shoot, allowing the blue patterns on the over-knee socks and the blue and white elements on the body to form a great vertical extension with the lines of the high-rises behind. In terms of leg wear, the combination of over-knee socks and black high-heeled ankle boots both elongates the overall body proportions and fits the sharp temperament that a race queen under this racing suit cosplay theme should have.

Because the outdoor light was very harsh, to avoid overhead light leaving unflattering shadows on the face, it was necessary to frequently adjust the standing position and the light-receiving side of the face during the shoot. At the same time, the reflection of the black car body had to be taken into account—both to maintain the high-gloss texture of the car paint and to prevent the character's silhouette and the dark parts of the car body from blending together, which is a detailed test of lighting arrangement.

The composition of the entire set of photos tried to retain some elements of the rooftop parking lot itself, such as the parking lines and car stoppers on the ground. These authentic street elements can maximize the immersion of the frame, making it not just a studio setting but truly integrated into such a real space. During the flag-waving process, we also tried to keep the floating direction of the flag consistent with the flow of the hair strands to simulate the materialized wind resistance during "speed cornering."

Although it is a static frame, under such a combination of attire and props, it truly allows one to feel a strong situational tension. The biggest feeling after shooting is that this kind of clearly functional attire heavily tests the body shape and dynamic extension. To capture the best moment of the flag's shape, I repeatedly attempted the actions of throwing the flag and waving the rod many times. Although working all afternoon on this cement ground of the rooftop parking lot was exhausting, seeing the color-clashing impact formed by this blue and white color scheme and the black sports car in the final photos made the hard work completely worth it.
