[Xaihi cosplay] Hypergryph Carnival: Arknights: Endfield On-Site Showcase

Bringing Xaihi to life at Hypergryph Carnival required approximately half a month of intensive preparation. Since this was an on-site convention hall shoot with complex ambient light and crowded spaces, many deliberate trade-offs were made during pre-production between garment fidelity and prop weight reduction. For the headpiece, securing the mechanical white headset was a primary challenge; internal anchoring clips were added and the mounting angle carefully calibrated so it wouldn't slip while navigating the floor. The wig was trimmed with blunt bangs in cyan-blue fiber, paired with azure contact lenses. To mirror her detached, aloof aura, red smudging was blended into the eye shadow, accented by a white graphic line beneath the right eye. Blending the prosthetic elf ears seamlessly into the hairline was equally technical, leaving zero room for visible seams.

The costume thrives on intricate layering: a crisp white mandarin collar juxtaposed against sheer black micro-mesh across the chest to drive monochrome contrast. The sleeves feature an asymmetric tiered design, combining fitted black sleeves with pleated white cuffs, grey tactical strapping, and sleek black gloves—visually stunning, yet time-consuming to buckle and tension properly. The mustard-yellow modular utility pouch slung at the waist serves as a vivid accent, injecting an electric focal pop into the monochrome base. Metallic triangular pauldron tiles were affixed individually by hand to guarantee specular reflections from every lighting angle.

The mechanical staff served as the centerpiece of this outing. Rendered in matte black and brushed silver, the head features an intricate assembly of mechanical rings and calibrated dials. Despite using weight-reduced materials, maneuvering such a tall staff through bustling crowds demanded constant vigilance. To accentuate its industrial weight, the photographer and I experimented with horizontal cradles and vertical shoulder mounts, integrating the weapon directly into the frame's diagonal lines. The booth's cyan-violet gel wash harmonized seamlessly with the sci-fi mood, while we hunted for perforated mesh or steel wall panels to block out chaotic attendee backgrounds.

The physical toll of the ensemble was palpable: despite stripping excess weight, the extended hemline, rigging, and long staff severely restricted swift movement. Locking down her piercing, focused gaze amidst convention noise required intense mental discipline. Moving between photo requests from enthusiastic players while safeguarding the props tested real stamina, yet reviewing the proofs made every ounce of effort worthwhile. Merging tangible technical craft with the convention floor's electric buzz made this an extraordinarily rewarding Game cosplay milestone.
