Taking the opportunity of the 2026 Firefly Anime Game Carnival, I completed the shooting of this Sankarea: Undying Love outfit on Day 2. The entire preparation process was actually more meticulous than imagined; the props this time chose light Blue hydrangea with high simulation. The fullness and color of the bouquet showed up very cleanly through the lens, echoing the character's iconic elements directly alongside the bouquet and hair accessories.

In terms of clothing, I selected this sailor uniform with a white base and purple collar borders. To get closer to the character's everyday wearing feel, the bow tie was specially chosen from a grayish-blue fabric of the same color family, avoiding overly bright satin so that it looks natural under convention venue lighting or natural light. The cut of this outfit is relatively loose, but the purple pleats on the skirt and the purple piping on the top form a great visual unity. This time's hair accessory used a light blue flat butterfly hairpin. Actually, the hair accessories in various versions of the original settings differ slightly; I chose a style matching the overall atmosphere of this set. The wig used a thick black long straight hair, with bangs and sideburns trimmed overall so the hair strands could naturally fall on both sides of the shoulders. During the shoot, the hair texture had a healthy sheen, thanks to some styling and grooming before the shoot.

Regarding makeup, this attempt also paid more attention to local texture. The eye makeup used an earthy tone base, paired with a watery dark red colored contact lens, making the gaze look deeper. Especially the blue tear-stain painting under the right eye—to keep the edges smooth, I repeatedly outlined it a few strokes with a liquid eyeliner pen. This detail is very conspicuous in close-ups or half-body portraits, and it's also a crucial step in restoring the character's temperament. Considering the humid and sultry weather in Guangzhou in July, to maintain the neatness of the wig and clothing, a portable mini fan and oil-absorbing sheets were constantly kept in the bag, ensuring the makeup was in a clean and plump state when the photographer pressed the shutter.

I was very honored to book teacher NightDiva for photography this time. In route planning, we deliberately avoided the most crowded main roads and selected an atrium on the outer periphery of the venue. The on-site lighting was relatively complex, with one side being the original top light of the building and the other side carrying environmental diffuse reflection, so we chose to frame the scene using red building pillars and glass guardrails. The close-up in Figure 1, where a bouquet covers half the face, was actually meant to use the bouquet's area to conceal the lower half of the face, focusing on the gaze and exuding a mysterious and quiet feeling. Figure 2 is a half-body framing that I personally like very much: holding the bouquet with one hand while relaxing the wrist, presenting a "cupping" posture rather than rigidly pinching the flower stem, and the other hand smoothly brushing back the hair, which can express the character's unique detachment while carrying some agility.

The material of the costume was also a test when switching between indoor and outdoor environments, and the fabric looked clean and sharp under the convention's ambient light. Although shuttling through the convention with such a large bouquet of flowers increased the head-turning rate a lot and required constant attention to avoid collisions, being able to leave such a set of Sankarea: Undying Love freezes in Guangzhou in 2026 was still very worthwhile. Sometimes doing a good cosplay isn't purely about whether the accessories are expensive, but whether, when wearing specific pairings and picking up iconic props, one can naturally exude the atmosphere that the character should have. Although the physical consumption was quite significant throughout the shoot, seeing the feedback from the lens made this fatigue feel fully compensated. I hope this sharing can bring everyone a little inspiration regarding the details of this outfit.
