Today's autofocus at the ChinaJoy Nikon booth was truly amazing, acting all crazy—I can only say I bought the genuine product. Another year of ChinaJoy, archiving it. This Cosplay photography session can be said to have gone wrong in every possible way. The photographer stayed up late and went out, grabbing the Tamron 50-400 instead of the 35-150; these two are too similar in weight and length, and it was only discovered upon reaching the site. Coupled with the complex ambient light at the booth, the Nikon Z8 autofocus was constantly hunting, and standing on the stage, I felt a mix of laughter and tears inside, desperately trying to maintain my expression management. The photo output effect turned out surprisingly pretty good. What I wore this time was a blue and black color-blocked patchwork short skirt, with blue camouflage on the upper body and black multi-layered ruffles on the lower body, paired with black long socks and black glossy high heels, giving an overall slim-fit style. The layering of this outfit is very strong. To present a good effect at the booth, I specially added neck straps and pendants to the accessories, and the prop staff weighed quite a bit in hand. A whole day at the convention is truly exhausting; waking up very early in the morning to do makeup, wear the wig, and organize the costume. The exhibition hall was packed with people, and all sorts of long lenses were pointed at us, with flashes almost never stopping. To cooperate with the photographer, I needed to constantly change poses, lifting with one hand or spreading both arms. Actually, wearing high heels for a whole day makes your feet extremely sore, but you still have to maintain your state in front of the lens. In the middle, due to autofocus issues, the photographer kept calling cut, and I could only silently chant in my heart not to panic. Looking at the various cameras in the hands of the audience next to me, I deeply understood everyone's desire to take good photos. The Nikon Z8 paired with Tamron 50-400 is actually a very practical combination. Although it occasionally misses focus, image quality is guaranteed most of the time, and the color reproduction is high, showing good dynamic range under complex venue lighting. Aside from the photography equipment, the atmosphere at the exhibition site was also very enthusiastic, with different activities at various booths, and everyone running around taking photos and checking in—truly loving this culture. I also put a lot of thought into this makeup and styling, from wig trimming to makeup details, trying my best to fit the overall style of the costume. Although the process had some twists and turns, seeing the final archived photos, I still felt all the hard work was completely worth it. Every convention is a dual test of physical and mental energy, but being able to share the love for cosplay here with everyone and experience this unique atmosphere is already enough. Looking forward to the next convention trip, and hoping the photographer won't grab the wrong lens next time.
