Shooting this official Wuthering Waves The Shorekeeper photoshoot by the sea, the greatest challenges and delights were undeniably the coastal winds and natural light. The attire is built from multiple cascading layers of gossamer tulle, transitioning from pure white to soft azure and down into deep navy, crafted from an extraordinarily airy textile. To capture the billowing flutter of the skirt and bridal veil riding the wind, I had to pace continuously along the surf line. Coastal gusts were fierce and unpredictable, frequently whipping the veil across my face; ironically, smoothing back the veil became the most effortless, organic gesture throughout the session.
The midday sun blazed fiercely on the day of the shoot, casting hard, direct light where the white fabric easily threatened to blow out without precise angling. The photographer Yunlong (Legendary Pressure-Resistant Edition) and I continually repositioned our stances, utilizing rim backlighting to coax out a radiant, translucent texture from the sheer tulle. Pacing barefoot across the beach, incoming waves brought refreshing coolness while wet sand packed beneath my toes felt grounded and authentic; however, once the skirt hem soaked up sea foam, it grew heavy, requiring frequent wringing out between takes.
Prop-wise, I cradled a bouquet of blue and white blossoms accented by several white butterflies, which harmonized with the delicate silver cords and metallic armbands coiling around my arms to build rich visual depth. Because the styling is anchored in blue palettes, makeup prioritized blue contact lenses and matching eyeshadow; however, given the coastal humidity and sea spray, setting makeup required heavy baking, and touch-ups were far more frequent than usual.
Rather than forcing convoluted poses, most frames captured side-profile glances or candid moments adjusting the veil. The tonal palette of The Shorekeeper dissolves organically into the vast ocean, while the crisp white highlights pull the silhouette forward, heightening that ethereal detachment. Seeing the traces of wind and dimensional chiaroscuro in the finished cuts made braving the blistering sun and blustery gale completely worthwhile. Happy birthday, Shorekeeper!
