[The Shorekeeper cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Blue and White Skirt Hem and Streamers in the Night - Image 1

The scale of CICF Day 1 was even larger than anticipated, and this time I decided to portray The Shorekeeper from Wuthering Waves. To make the morning time slot, I dragged myself out of bed at 4:00 AM to begin makeup. The eye makeup was the focal point: cyan cosmetic lenses paired with diffused pink eyeshadow shading, with the eyeliner deliberately elongated to accentuate the character's aloof, ethereal presence. The wig was trimmed in advance, but the cowl hood and floral ornaments atop the crown still required considerable time to anchor, as we needed to preserve that asymmetrical, fluid drape without letting it collapse while walking.

The textile composition of this ensemble is exceptionally distinct: a blue-and-white color-blocked design combined with semi-translucent vinyl-textured fabric, creating a natural luster as you walk. The metallic clasps and lace-up straps across the bodice require great patience to adjust, balancing a snug bodily fit with freedom of movement. The skirt features an asymmetrical hemline, with a front split that cleanly reveals the lace-trimmed white shorts beneath. The most delicate elements to manage were the elongated blue streamers: dusted with fine sequin shimmer, they trail along the floor and are remarkably easy to step on, requiring constant adjustment every few steps. For footwear, I wore clear stiletto heels, which significantly elongated overall bodily proportions.

The outdoor night shoot was an absolute whirlwind of unexpected events. Photographer @姜趁 (Jiang Chen) was truly reliable—this semi-translucent material is notoriously difficult to photograph, as uncontrolled reflections can easily distort body lines, but his angles and lighting setups were masterclass. We selected a stretch of pavement framed by streetlights and distant bokeh orbs, using intense rim backlighting from the right alongside lens flares to craft a captivating nocturnal ambiance. A few minutes in, Jiang Chen called out that the angle was perfection and told me to lift the skirt hem slightly. Just as I held the hem to catch dynamic motion, a security guard suddenly blared through a megaphone from nearby: "Hey, blue-haired girl! That's a roadway for vehicles, you can't loiter and take pictures there!" Jiang Chen and I froze on the spot, exchanged glances, burst out laughing, and hurried to pack our gear and move to the curb. We had planned to capture a few more dynamic shots of the streamers billowing in the wind, but had to call it there.

During the day in the convention hall, I bumped into numerous fellow Wuthering Waves cosplayers, gathering to trade styling tips, compare which wig makers offered more natural styling, and discuss where to source richer fabric textures. This outfit is quite demanding on posture and movement: while gorgeous, the long streamers restrict stride length, and wearing clear high heels an entire day definitely left my feet aching. As a cosplayer, every convention is a dual endurance test of physical stamina and patience—especially for characters laden with layered hemlines and trailing ribbons, where meticulous advance prep and on-site adjustments are both indispensable.

While being stopped by security left a slight pang of regret over not getting enough night shots, Jiang Chen's resulting images are genuinely stunning. That wraps up CICF Day 1 on a high note; now it's time to rush home, remove makeup, soak my feet, smooth out the wrinkles and sequins on the garment, and recharge for the upcoming schedule.
