[Kiritani Haruka cosplay] Project Sekai Idol: A Japanese Magazine Style Casual Snap

This time, I shot a casual photo set of Kiritani Haruka from Project Sekai in a Japanese magazine style. Because the typography and layout felt so much like a weekly periodical, I decided to format it as a special September cover issue. The hair was custom-blended from roughly three wigs, dyed to a cool blue-violet tone with trimmed straight bangs and sideburns to capture her polished idol persona. For makeup, the focus was placed heavily on the eyes, using light blue contact lenses to brighten the gaze alongside elongated eyeliner and soft pink blush to achieve that airy, luminous Japanese magazine aesthetic. For the outfit, I chose a light blue and white striped off-the-shoulder top that gracefully showcases the collarbones and choker, accented with mint-green bottoms for an authentic casual, everyday flair. Posing with the heart-shaped sunglasses was a playful prop idea of my own to add cheekiness. To simulate the texture of a magazine cover, we shot against a clean backdrop with bounce lighting from reflectors, complemented by poster-like typography in post-production. The end result carries the chic sophistication of a Japanese style fashion magazine, and I truly enjoyed the fun of roleplaying an idol featured on a cover—it fits Haruka's energetic, sparkling charm wonderfully. Managing the shoot had its hurdles; the wig was heavy on my scalp, and the off-the-shoulder neckline slipped easily, requiring constant wardrobe adjustments. Capturing that radiant glow took considerable time just dialing in angles. Casual snaps differ from rigid studio sessions; they demand a relaxed, effortless ease, and holding the sunglasses as an accent brought vibrant life into the frame. Although editorial text was added, it never detracted from the character presentation. Experimenting with magazine cover layout concepts gave me fresh post-processing inspiration for my upcoming cosplay projects.
