[Momomiya Ichigo cosplay] Strawberry cat cosplay Under Spring Cherry Blossoms

When shooting Tokyo Mew Mew's Momomiya Ichigo—namely the Strawberry cat cosplay—the greatest challenge was presenting the character's lively agility on uneven tree branches and concrete ledges. This outdoor shoot took full advantage of blooming spring cherry blossoms and winter jasmine; the halo effect under side-backlighting suited this pink-toned character impeccably, adding a dreamlike feel.

Costume-wise, this glossy pink dress showed distinct shifts in luster under sunlight, offering great texture, though special attention was needed regarding angles to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. The red long boot straps and neck choker were key styling focal points. Because the boots are relatively rigid, knee and leg strain needed careful handling during crouching poses or perching on tree branches to avoid grimacing facial expressions. When holding the heart-shaped prop, composition had to be considered so as not to obscure the face while coordinating with expressive hand gestures.

To highlight the character's vivacious and playful nature, I interacted with the camera as much as possible through facial expressions—such as turning sideways, tilting my head, or using the fluffy cat ears as foreground framing. Pursuing dynamic compositions, we attempted crouching on elevated platforms and perching on branches, which required balancing my body while controlling the flutter of the skirt hem. Under that day's backlit conditions, the photographer paired a diffusion filter with post-processed bloom effects to give the skin a translucent glow.

The main difficulty during the shoot was the crowded Cherry blossom outdoor scene, requiring creative angles to avoid passersby, while maintaining fixed poses on branches tested physical stamina. However, once the final photos came out, the overall color palette perfectly aligned with the character's fresh, sweet essence. In post-processing, the layering of her pink hair was preserved without excessive skin smoothing, maintaining natural skin textures. My takeaway from this cosplay is that rather than posing stiffly, trying cat-like actions such as climbing or cocking the head vastly elevates character expressiveness, while beautifully displaying the voluminous flare of the dress and the design of the long boots. The final results faithfully restored the character's true charm.
