[Ch'en cosplay] Arknights Lungmen Guard Department Field Gear Hands-On Test

This Location shoot cosplay was primarily set up to test the outdoor light reflection and mobility of the Lungmen Guard Department uniform. Under direct sunlight, the bright blue shirt fabric was remarkably eye-catching while offering surprisingly good breathability. The wig was styled as deep-blue long straight hair; I made sure to re-tie and secure the back sections before heading out, as clip-on twin ponytails easily slip during active outdoor movement. The horn props atop my head were cast in resin; they grew somewhat tight over extended wear, but to ensure faithful fidelity, tightly pinning down the hair roots was essential—fortunately preventing any noticeable shifting. For makeup, the eyeliner was deepened and paired with pale-gold circle lenses to capture her sharp, coolly detached demeanor.

Today's shoot took place along a park walking path beside iron railings—an outdoor setting with crisp natural light and hard architectural lines suited the field patrol concept perfectly. The first posing sequence used a three-quarters profile looking back over the shoulder, leveraging the contrast between the tactical harness and the waistline, which is a favorite angle of mine though demanding on the neck. During the second frontal sequence, a gust of wind caught the neck gaiter and tie, capturing organic kinetic movement fitting an active patrol. A small pink clasp pinned to the belt served as a charming detail, anchoring visual interest within the predominantly blue palette.

Prepping the wig actually consumed considerable time: trimming the bangs required patience to ensure they never blocked the eyes without becoming too short, while extra wefts were added to the back to boost volume, smoothed with generous pomade for a natural camera finish. For candid snapshots, eye line positioning is paramount—gazing into the distance while projecting vigilant awareness of the surroundings. The costume construction is fairly intricate with intersecting tactical webbing and belts, requiring patience to slip into, though it never felt restrictive outdoors.

We continuously adjusted angles relative to the sun; while frontal light boosts fair skin, it tends to flatten facial planes, so we relied primarily on side sunlight to sculpt dimensional depth. This character gear features distinct color blocking, so we took extra care during color grading to highlight the rugged uniform aesthetic, particularly the contrast between the blues and orange accents. Paired with crisp tactical trousers and belts, the lower half looked impeccably sharp. To verify that the gear was genuinely comfortable in the field, I tested several quick pivot turns on the spot; the leather buckles and harness held firm without hindrance. Wrapping up the shoot and returning indoors to remove makeup and detangle the wig took plenty of time, yet seeing the finished lighting and the crisp, gallant poise of a Guard Department officer on duty made this an immensely gratifying Cosplayer experience.
