[Castorice cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail: Castorice Shooting Record in the Violet Floral Church

This finished Honkai: Star Rail Castorice cosplay photoshoot has finally arrived to greet everyone! From bespoke tailoring to prop fabrication, preparations spanned quite some time, and today I'd love to take you behind the scenes of this shoot.

First, let's talk about the wardrobe nuances. The dress features an asymmetrical blue-and-white spliced design, anchored by a black leather underbust corset that elevates the overall visual texture. Rather than choosing an intensely reflective sheen, I selected a textile embedded with subtle micro-shimmer that glimmers under studio illumination without looking tacky. The black ornamental accents across the chest, shoulders, and neck act as the crowning touch, grounding the color palette so it doesn't float away. To complement this aloof aesthetic, the wig was trimmed with textured layers—the wisps framing the face were shaped to contour the jawline, paired with pointed Elf ear style prosthetics. Applying elf ears always takes considerable effort: the seams must be stippled with scar wax step by step and blended with foundation, or camera lenses will expose the edges instantly. For the purple contacts, I picked a pair with high color payoff yet soft outer ring transitions; combined with cool-toned violet eyeshadow, the blending was kept strictly restrained to accentuate the limpid clarity of the gaze.

As for the props, the long-handled staff was the standout centerpiece. The central shaft had to remain feather-light to prevent arm trembling during prolonged holds, while its surface was spray-finished in matte black for refined elegance. To ensure the crescent base and purple orb exhibited rich dimension in dim lighting, we embedded hidden LED strips inside, having the gaffer calibrate luminosity to glow without blowing out highlights. Sitting or leaning against it severely tested my core balance—especially in the crossed-leg pose—because the curved base forced me to engage my core to steady myself while keeping the instep pointed to lengthen the leg line. The black strappy stilettos featured ultra-thin heels that exerted immense pressure on the soles, so I made sure to sit down and rest after every single pose cycle.

The location was a church set featuring stained-glass windows, filled with arrangements of purple blooms. Lighting proved to be a delicate challenge. While the stained glass allowed ambient natural light to filter through, the photographer added a softbox fill light from the front to guarantee balanced facial exposure. This required strict color temperature management to prevent ambient green and violet bounces from the stained glass from casting bizarre color casts onto my face. Minor color grading corrections were applied in post-processing to unify the entire chromatic spectrum into a cohesive Purple-themed photo shoot in blue-violet tones.

Because the character exudes an enigmatic, serene composure, I avoided overly complex expressions. Keeping the chin slightly tucked, the gaze projected subtle aloofness through the lens, paired with diverse grips on the staff—such as glancing back over the shoulder or sitting upright in stillness—to express visual tension. The skirt hem tended to bunch up while seated, so I routinely tidied the draped folds between takes to let the white ruffles cascade organically. Communication throughout the shoot flowed seamlessly; the floral designer arranged the sea of purple blooms with remarkable depth, and the foreground and background petals framed the subject without stealing focus. From styling and props to photography and set dressing, everyone poured tremendous dedication into this project. I am personally very satisfied with the results and hope everyone feels the distinctive charm of this character.
