[Takanashi Hoshino cosplay] Santa Claus Limited Edition: Sending 2026 Christmas Greetings to Sensei

As we approach the end of 2026, wrapping up the year with a holiday-themed photoshoot is a must, so this time I brought a Christmas cosplay look of Takanashi Hoshino from Blue Archive. Although Hoshino usually acts like a slacking senior from the Abydos Foreclosure Task Force, slipping into this classic red-and-white Christmas outfit instantly creates that signature blend of languid dorkiness and endearing gap moe.

The fabric quality of this costume is exquisite; the red velvet material presents a premium matte finish under the soft studio lighting, while the thick white faux fur trim around the edges gives the entire look a warm, fluffy feel. The three large pom-poms on the chest act as a visual anchor, which, along with the black belt, red-and-green striped ribbon tie, and petite Christmas capelet, instantly brings out that festive ceremonial flair. The brim of the Santa hat features white trim, and the small pom-pom on top alongside the cutout for Hoshino's signature ahoge perfectly matches her hairstyle details.

To align with Hoshino's vibe, I specifically chose a soft light-pink short straight wig with neatly trimmed blunt bangs. For makeup, I aimed for a fresh and clean "no-makeup" look without overly flashy colors, focusing entirely on the eyes. Putting on the heterochromatic contact lenses—blue in the left eye and yellow in the right—paired with a slightly sleepy, languid gaze naturally brought out Hoshino's aloof yet easygoing demeanor.

For posing, this set avoided an overly energetic "hardcore Santa" image, opting instead for a cozy, healing route. I really love the seated pose on the cover: lightly raising one hand to touch my hair, with the leg lines perfectly showcasing the White thigh-highs outfit alongside the red gift bag below, creating a well-balanced and eye-catching composition. The over-the-shoulder glance carrying the giant red gift sack conveys a mischievous, tsundere "gifts delivered, now I'm out" attitude; while lying prone on the carpet with legs kicked up and chin resting on both hands offers what I consider the most authentic interpretation of Hoshino's "ready to clock out and slack off right now" mood.

One of the challenges during this shoot was the reflection on the heterochromatic lenses. Because the contact lens colors are vibrant, strong studio lights easily caused reflections that diluted eye focus, requiring constant adjustments to the angle of light hitting the face to capture a natural, clear gaze. The combination of white over-the-knee socks and the red mini-skirt created strong visual contrast. To prevent the large red areas from feeling overly heavy, the set deliberately used an off-white round plush rug and off-white backdrops for color balance, making the red-and-white palette pop even more.

The photographer also experimented with low-angle wide shots, such as the one where both hands reach directly out toward the lens, simulating an immersive first-person player perspective as if genuinely passing a Christmas gift out through the screen. Across the whole shoot, the biggest takeaway was how crucial props are: don't underestimate that simple red cloth bag—with it, whether sitting, kneeling, or lying down, the framing never feels monotonous.
