[Takanashi Hoshino Cosplay] Transforming into a Cat-Like Ojisan at Firefly ACG Expo

During Firefly ACG Expo, I shot a set of Takanashi Hoshino cosplay, choosing an outdoor location at the venue at night. The prototype of this outfit in the game belongs to a character with a charming gap-moe contrast, so this set not only incorporated elements from the character illustration but also embraced the actual shooting environment at the expo to convey that lazy yet slightly playful vibe.

The glowing pinkish-purple halo ring above my head was one of the souls of this look. To ensure battery life and brightness, I secured it in my hair parting using hidden thin wires and a battery pack in advance, so there was no worry of it falling off while walking or posing. The wig was a light pink shade adorned with fluffy cat ears, visually matching the cat-like ojisan concept. For the collar on my neck, I chose a style with a silver metal buckle—minimalist yet restrictive—which, paired with the loose white hoodie, kept the collarbone and neck lines clean and crisp.

The outfit went for a loose, comfortable style. A pink cat paw print graced the chest of the white hoodie, serving as a key accent color against the pure white base. Below, I wore very short pink shorts that were almost hidden under the hoodie's hem, paired with over-the-knee white stockings to perfectly reproduce the visual rhythm of absolute territory. I specifically chose white thigh-highs that fitted my leg shape closely, making it easy to walk around while letting leg lines appear smoother on camera. In the third photo, I also held a plush pink slipper; this fluffy footwear prop added a touch of everyday life ambiance to the shoot so it didn't feel stiff.

During shooting, I mostly sat on a beige storage box whose sides were covered in cute badge stickers, bringing a unique sense of expo life. My hand and facial gestures borrowed cat paw poses; the double-handed pinching gesture in the second photo just fit the tsundere, vigilant expression I wanted to portray. For the cover photo, I naturally crossed my legs, slightly lifting one foot to reveal the plush slipper while keeping my center of gravity stable, creating just the right mood on camera. Nighttime outdoor shooting poses considerable challenges, as lighting relies entirely on reflector boards and fill lights, thus preserving soft shadows and a full sense of three-dimensionality in the final frame.

Many playing Blue Archive know Takanashi Hoshino has a unique character setting—a personality that appears ojisan on the surface but is sensitive and gentle deep down. I love capturing this personality when cosplaying. A combination like a white hoodie and pink hair easily feels like a typical Cute girl in white stockings image, but with a subtle adjustment in gaze sharpness and adding a cold touch when not smiling, it instantly transforms into that cat-like ojisan tsundere aura. Many passing con-goers joked and called out "Sensei" on site; this real-time interaction with cosers creates a fantastic convention atmosphere. Happening upon roadside greenery paired with warm streetlights at night created a lovely contrast against the sci-fi halo, serving as a pleasant surprise during this shoot.

Experiencing this outdoor shoot at Firefly ACG Expo, this outfit was easy to wear and change into while preserving my understanding of character fidelity. Every attempt to translate a two-dimensional Anime cosplay image into a real-world three-dimensional scene yields new ways of interpretation. I hope to continue maintaining this happy and free cosplay state in future projects.
