The makeup and styling for this Xishi cosplay were polished for a long time, primarily aiming to present an atmosphere that is both clear and tinged with a young girl's secret thoughts. I deliberately trimmed the layers of the wig; the blunt bangs and wispy sideburns on both sides better flatter the face shape and stay closer to the character's original design. For the eye makeup, reddish-pink circle lenses were used, paired with elongated eyeliner, wanting to create a breathtaking beauty feeling while letting a sense of innocent grievance seep through the gaze. The material of the costume actually reflects light severely under strong lighting, so we constantly adjusted angles during the shoot to avoid overexposure and losing the original subtle pattern details. This blue-and-white costume has a deeply ethereal and aloof feel; coupled with the bright blue ribbons, headband, and detailed pearl string ornaments, the overall color contrast is exceptionally vivid, and the texture is rich.
During the shoot, I experimented with different sitting postures. For instance, the W-sit actually tests flexibility quite a bit, but it turns out looking very obedient and cute. When sitting sideways, through the extension of the leg lines, it visually elongates proportions. The long white silk-satin gloves and arm straps add a sense of layering to the overall styling, while the white chunky-heeled short boots appear relatively light visually. The silver spherical pendant hanging at the waist side is also an eye-catching detail. Because it was shot in a pure white studio, the high-key lighting makes the entire frame look extremely clean and translucent. I personally love this minimalist background, as it concentrates all visual focus on the character's makeup, styling, and expression. As the white moonlight in the hearts of fans, Xishi is not only the historical beauty washing yarn by the river, but also a nimble and lively young girl in the game. Through this set of photos, I want to express not just external beauty, but that girlhood sentiment carrying a hint of delicate emotion.
Every single cosplay is a cross-dimensional experience. To restore the character's texture, from early garment organization to later shooting, every single link required repeated deliberation. To highlight the subject's three-dimensionality during the shoot, the photographer's lighting needed to be exceptionally precise, with soft lighting making the skin look more translucent. The combination of the short skirt and boots in this styling showcases leg lines wonderfully, so we also experimented with various shooting angles, hoping to present the best proportions. I hope this photo set can convey the gentle yet nimble Xishi in my heart.
