[Daji cosplay] Honor of Kings Maid Cafe Outdoor Shoot

Today, we held an Outdoor shoot at Olympic Forest Park for Daji's Maid Cafe skin from Honor of Kings. The garment features high color saturation; the vibrant pink-and-blue palette trimmed with white lace pops exceptionally well under natural outdoor daylight. Because the character's tail is colossal, we did extensive prep work on the prop beforehand, using an internal wire and sponge armature so that the tail maintained its fluffy, volumetric shape regardless of wind or pose adjustments. The beast ears atop my head were anchored with a discreet hidden headband, ensuring they stayed firmly secured whenever I leaned forward or turned around.

Styling the wig was quite technical as well. For this pastel pink wig, I trimmed blunt bangs and face-framing side tendrils in advance to match the canonical in-game aesthetic. Outdoor gusts easily displace hair fibers, so frequent mirror checks were essential between takes. During makeup touch-ups, I realized that despite the soft diffused daylight, outdoor UV rays were deceptively strong, making sunscreen reapplication indispensable.

The shooting location was a picturesque corner graced with water features and blooming florals. Perched atop river stones, accompanied by the gentle murmurs of a miniature waterfall behind me and framed by cherry blossoms in full bloom, stepping barefoot onto the rocks was integral to the design since the original splash art features no footwear. The rock surfaces were rather rough and slightly slick, requiring my toes to exert subtle grip to preserve balance. The crimson cord tied around my ankle was a deliberate detail added to break up bare skin tones and introduce an extra visual layer.

The skirt's multi-tiered ruffle construction is remarkably delicate; walking between spots meant holding the front hem slightly to keep from tripping. During posing, the photographer constantly guided my leg placement—for instance, in the seated pose, bending one knee slightly while extending the other forward elongated the leg lines in frame. Lightly lifting the skirt hem appeared casual, yet regulating wrist angles and keeping shoulders relaxed were critical to keeping the gesture looking organic rather than staged.

Navigating an Outdoor shoot is physically demanding—hauling gear across the expansive park grounds while actively timing shots to dodge crowds took considerable stamina. Nonetheless, this Maid Cafe styling harmonized beautifully with the springtime setting; the eye-catching colors and plush furry accents paired effortlessly with the natural environment. I will keep polishing the fine details and documenting these shoots to achieve the highest possible fidelity in every cosplay.
