This time at the convention, I debuted the Bride look of Yang Yuhuan from Fate/Grand Order. The design of this costume was far more intricate than I had anticipated, embodying a striking fusion of dark aesthetics and baroque elegance. While the original Bride palette leans sacred and luminous, I opted for a more mysterious, darker tone. Straight long purple hair with blunt bangs and blue-purple contact lenses were matched with deliberately deepened eyeshadow gradients, aiming to present an aura both dignified and subtly dangerous before the lens.
The wide-brimmed hat atop my head is a focal point of this styling. The exterior is pure black, while the underside features blue patterns and orange-red trim, perfectly framing the face when worn. The black corset-style undergarment connects seamlessly with the neckline's geometric cutouts in a very unique design. Long purple sleeves adorn the arms, with multiple golden metallic rings suspended around the forearms that clink softly with every step. Outside the black shorts on the bottom half hangs an expansive blue semi-sheer tulle skirt printed with white floral motifs that billow with the slightest breeze. To secure the train, I pinned it with numerous bobby pins; since sheer tulle snags easily, I had to tread with extreme care throughout the convention floor.
The high-heeled tall boots on my legs feature undulating wave patterns of purple, blue, and black. Their over-the-knee height and towering heels lengthened my proportions considerably. Across the exposed thighs, I wore flesh-toned Stockings as a base layer, which not only smoothed the leg contours but also prevented the tops of the boots from chafing against the skin. Walking in these boots was genuinely tough—the ultra-high heels made the soles of my feet ache after prolonged standing, so during shooting, I leaned against nearby display shelves whenever possible.
The musical instrument prop in my hands was remarkably heavy. To ensure optimal visual presentation, my left hand supported it steadily the whole time. The prop has a distinctive design, featuring a deep dark-wood texture accented by azure lines. The shoot was staged inside the convention hall against carved wooden antique furniture and several warm-yellow traditional lanterns. Overhead hall lights blended with the lanterns' glow to create complex lighting conditions, requiring the photographer to constantly hunt for angles. Scattered jade discs, ornate hairpins, and decorative items strewn across the floor also added profound ambiance to the scene.
This set took quite a long time to shoot. To ensure the sweeping drape of the billowing skirt, I constantly recalibrated my stance and arm positions, balancing the prop's weight against subtle emotional glances. The interplay between translucent tulle and metallic hardware yielded rich visual layers. Although moving through the venue in this elaborate ensemble was exhausting, seeing the textural lighting and captivating mood of the finished Convention photos made all the fatigue worthwhile.
