Shooting this Sangonomiya Kokomi cosplay fan swimwear Cosplay photoshoot had actually been brewing in my mind for quite a long time. The character's image itself is very closely connected with water and the ocean, so to maximize the restoration of that agile yet quiet feeling, we finally settled on this fan swimwear with blue and white as the main color scheme, and selected the "Lost Atlantis" theme scene of "Daju Mansion Photography Studio."

Many people might be curious about why we didn't just go to the beach to shoot. Actually, it's mostly because I don't really dare to run to the beach and shallow water area for a conventional cosplay like this. On one hand, I'm worried that the costume and Kigurumi mask can be easily damaged by seawater or sand; on the other hand, it's also out of safety considerations, as there are too many uncontrollable factors at the beach, and the wind and waves can easily mess up or wet the wig and styling. In contrast, although the studio is an artificial scene, the lighting, props, and the white shells, crystal pillars, and transparent gauze on the ground can be placed completely as expected. In order to create that shimmering deep-sea texture, the photographer Apu put a lot of heart into the lighting. The main light source hit the white shells, forming soft diffuse reflections, combined with blue side lighting, pulling the atmosphere of the entire frame to its peak.

At first glance upon entering the scene, I was attracted by various fake corals and transparent crystal prisms scattered at different heights. Because the ground was covered with semi-transparent plastic sheets resembling water ripples, stepping on them made a subtle crinkling sound, which actually gave a sense of cautious lightness. This styling actually has many small details. The gradient hair color from light pink to light blue, paired with a dark blue bow, formed a wonderful echo with the flowing gauze shawl of the same color system. What I like more are those over-the-knee white stockings and blue shoes with bows, making the overall look possess both the cool feeling of the ocean and a bit of a girl's playfulness. Since it adopts the Kigurumi form, the control of movements needs to be more precise and light, as slightly larger movements might affect the body's proportional balance. Every time I raised a hand or crossed my legs, I had to repeatedly find angles in front of the lens to ensure the frame presented the most natural state.

Regarding the clothing coordination, the design of the fan swimwear is actually more summer-beach-oriented than the original work. The headpiece, the bow on the top, and the little shoes on the feet all uniformly use dark blue, while the white bandeau and over-the-knee socks break up the dullness, giving the entire color block distribution a great sense of breathability. To express the character's intellectual temperament, I deliberately kept my gaze steady. Among the six different sets of movements, my personal favorite is the one sitting inside the giant white shell. Holding the glowing transparent sphere in my arms, I really felt like lying on a pearl in the deep sea.

Actually, when I first got this fan swimwear, I was still worried that the large area of blue would make the picture look monotonous, but after adding white shells, white jellyfish gauze, and those glittering crystal pillars as embellishments, the layered feel of deep and light blue came out completely. Shooting this set in a limited space required many wide-ranged poses, and post-processing involved smoothing out some marks on body joints, making the process quite tiring. However, the photographer Apu was guiding me the whole time, giving many practical movement suggestions and helping adjust the flowing direction of the gauze skirt, making the overall cooperation very pleasant. The tone of the final photos this time leans cool, highly fitting this lost theme of Atlantis. This Cosplay photoshoot preserves both the aesthetic traits of the character and adds the refreshing feel of the fan design. I hope everyone can see our efforts in the details, and friends who like this water-like dream style are welcome to exchange shooting experiences together.
