[Ye Shunguang Cosplay] The Wind of Mount Yunkui: A Turn of the Body is the Stage

Standing in the white background studio, this Ye Shunguang cosplay look has undergone repeated consideration and attempts, from costume preparation to action choreography.

In terms of costume selection, the main white sleeveless high-slit combat suit is the visual focus. To match the character's sharp yet elegant temperament, the silver-grey openwork straps on the shoulders required a highly fitted cut that neither restricts arm movement nor fails to present a mechanical-like three-dimensional structure visually. The yellow geometric patterns and tassels embellishing the waist add lively color details to the pure white base. The detached white arm sleeves paired with silver rings ensure clean lines while also considering comfort when swinging the weapon.

Let's talk about the accessories and props. These platform high-heeled ankle boots greatly elongate the proportions of the lower body, but they also significantly increase the difficulty during the shoot. Making a one-legged stand or large-stride movements under such extreme balance conditions requires strong core strength. As for the black broadsword in hand, it is not only massive in size, but its surface square grid patterns and the golden ring at the hilt have been finely processed. The red texture of the sword tassel happens to echo the color of the costume's long streamers.

Regarding the makeup and hair, to match the character's unique traits, I prepared a grey-brown long straight wig, paired with a white headband and hair accessories featuring red petal elements on both sides. The red contact lenses make the gaze look deeper and sharper, which perfectly matches the character's effortlessly capable combat style look.

During the staging and shooting process, we chose a clean, pure white backdrop, as this can maximize the line texture of the figure's styling. Multiple fans were used for wind assistance, blowing the hair strands and those long red-and-yellow streamers into excellent dynamic effects. Every movement in this photo set, from looking back to striding, and then to weapon pointing, tries to capture that feeling of "wind." Especially the large-scale single-leg low stance in the last image, to keep steady and not fall, the photographer and I tried several camera positions before finally freezing this moment.

I have always felt that the meaning of cosplay is not just putting on clothes, but touching the soul of the character with expressions and the body. The character Ye Shunguang has a clean efficiency in the setting that does not drag, so I also tried my best to avoid slowness in the presentation of the overall posture. The greatest realization from shooting this theme is that the weight of the props and the material of the costume are destined to be not easily mastered, but it is precisely this "uneasiness" that gives the final photos power and tension.

From preparation to shooting, this process felt like a deep dress-up experience. I didn't deliberately pursue an exaggerated sense of drama but hoped to restore the character's own unconventional nature through the real texture of light, shadow, movement, and props. Dancing with a sword in the pure white studio and feeling the weight of the prop change in my hands made the entire process very much worth recording.
