This Convention photo shoot was aimed squarely at Ikaros from Heaven's Lost Property (Ikaros cosplay), putting all our carefully prepared props and costume to great use. To recreate her iconic black-and-green striped watermelon, I sourced two well-textured spheres as substitutes; although holding them for long periods made my arms quite sore, cradling them before the lens helped me instantly get into character. The location was set within an expansive exhibition convention center, chosen specifically for the structural feel of the elevated metal trusses and the cool-toned industrial lighting. Photographer @拍完场照奖励自己不吃拼好饭 demonstrated impeccable mastery over light and shadow, using cyan-blue cool illumination as the key light complemented by ambient warm tones, crafting a cyberpunk-like visual effect that infused the frame not only with feminine softness, but also an interwoven ambiance of high-tech and mechanical rigidity.
For makeup and hair, to align with the concept of a Synthetic Seraphim, I wore light-blue contact lenses, and carefully trimmed the bangs and ahoge of the pink wig, adding cyan gradient dip-dyes to the tips. This was paired with red-and-white mechanical hair accessories on top and small white feathered Wings on my back. The black collar around my neck with its metal chain is the true soul of this ensemble; wearing it naturally evokes a restrained, bound aesthetic while faithfully echoing her canonical identity as a type-alpha strategic Synthetic Seraphim. For the outfit, I wore a white camisole base beneath a breezy light-blue jacket and a navy denim miniskirt, grounded by blue block-heeled sandals. Walking through the cavernous venue in this attire was quite chilly whenever the draft blew, but once the camera started rolling, I forgot all about the cold.
Shooting this set was genuinely an endurance test. That crouching posture in the photos looks effortless, but it actually demanded significant core strength while balancing the watermelon sphere in one hand—my legs were completely numb by the time I stood up. For the shot lying prone on the floor, I adjusted my shoulders and arm angles multiple times to achieve organic, graceful curves, striking a delicate balance between the character's innocent, tranquil detachment and a subtle touch of allure. Every cosplay venture is a brand-new challenge: from pre-production costume and prop preparation to collaborating on angles and lighting with the photographer on set. Though grueling, seeing the gradient dip-dye of the hair, the delicate feather textures of the Wings, and the tactile interplay of light and shadow across the skin in the final edits brought immense fulfillment. This marked a perfect culmination to this stretch of high-intensity photoshoots; now it's time to take a well-deserved rest, curate these frames, and brainstorm creative directions for the next project (Heaven's Lost Property & Ikaros cosplay).
