I have been officially working as a full-time sister-style photography professional in Xiamen for two months, accumulating a collection of photos covering completely different visual styles. Today I'm releasing a portion of the sorted-out cosplay photoshoot images first. There is still a large amount of unedited material on my phone, which will be gradually released in batches later.

Over these two months, I have experimented with very contrasting shooting styles. There is a pink-toned Japanese style look shot during the spring blossoming season, where cherry blossoms combine with sunlight, making the frame inherently clear and soft. There is also a cool Gothic style light-colored twin-tail look shot in a lakeside European architecture setting, using a plush toy as a prop, combined with the model's expression and a soft-focus highlight filter to create an ethereal and slightly melancholy atmosphere.

However, my favorite set in this batch, and the one I feel has the most successful emotional shaping, is actually this dark neon style set shot in a roadside telephone booth in the old town at night. The shooting space for that set was extremely narrow, with colored cords hanging inside the phone booth and scraps of paper scattered on the floor. Paired with the model's black-and-purple twin-tails, short skirt, and black thick-soled leather shoes under the urban neon lights blending red and green, warm and cool tones, that lonely and marginalized emotion was completely maximized.

The challenges of these sets vary greatly. The cherry blossom season photos require grasping the exact moment of sunlight, as a slight weather shift or wind can affect the state of the petals; the outdoor Gothic style requires using a reflector to carve out that cool texture; and the nighttime telephone booth set intensely tests the control of complex ambient light and shadow, where a minor oversight can easily make the subject look messy. As a photographer, I must clear away the messy surrounding distractions for the model before shooting, which is the area where I've improved the most through hands-on practice over these two months.

I often hear models or makeup artists exclaim at the wrap of a shoot, "Doing a cosplay photoshoot is truly hard work." Indeed, an excellent set of character-portraying photos often requires far more time for early preparation than imagined—from adjusting clothing tailoring and styling the wig, to refining makeup details and even a small component of a prop, everything might require repeated tweaking. Therefore, as a photographer, whenever I come across a styling that has absorbed a great deal of effort, I do my best to conceive shooting angles and atmospheres, never letting down the model's trust while pushing myself to constantly improve my photography skills.

The ones edited currently are only a part of my recent production. There are still about three or four sets of images in different styles in the post-processing phase, among which an underwater photography set requires a large amount of time to polish and tune the colors. So I'm posting this collection together first as a log of this period. Over these two months, I have received much kindness and recognition from unfamiliar collaborators for my Xiamen cosplay photography work, and every pleasant exchange on-site provides the motivation to keep shooting.

In the future, I also want to continue challenging more themes I haven't shot before, such as high-end black-and-white studio photography, and an urban wasteland style integrated with more specialized props. Photography is a process that requires constantly breaking boundaries; rather than staying in a comfort zone and repeating oneself, it's better to try different visual expressions. This is my personal photography plan for a Xiamen photoshoot booking, hoping to capture more content with high texture and imagery later on. Although the process of photography is filled with unknowns, that is exactly its most interesting aspect.
