The most painstaking part of this sailor suit look was sculpting the wig. To achieve those exaggerated yet signature anime odango buns on both sides, massive amounts of hairspray and padding foam were required for support. Golden high-temperature synthetic fibers reflect light easily under the cold lighting of convention halls, so I applied a matte finishing spray before heading out. Both the thickness of the bangs and the curvature of the sideburns were repeatedly heat-pressed. The sailor collar's classic blue striping is timeless; to keep the massive pink front bow crisp and upright, an invisible boning structure was built into the back, while the center brooch combined acrylic and metallic paint techniques, delivering a rich texture under the lights.

For makeup, I deliberately chose highly pigmented bright blue contacts to maximize the eye proportions of 2D characters before the camera lens. The eye shadow utilized a broad pink wash with deepened outer corners and dense, elongated lashes. In line with the 2D anime flat aesthetic, nose shading and contouring were applied far more softly than in everyday makeup, whereas blush and lip color were enriched with peachy-pink hues to give the entire face a doll-like charm.

During shooting, refining the neckline, shoulders, and posture helped enhance the crisp, upright silhouette of the sailor suit. Because the large bow takes up considerable space and can easily obscure the chin, I maintained a slight chin lift and micro-adjusted my angles to preserve clean facial contours. In terms of lighting, because dark blue contacts absorb a lot of light, I coordinated with the photographer to employ a ring light for fill, creating a vibrant catchlight in the eyes and capturing every nuance crisply.

The Anime convention backstage was crowded and cluttered today. Quickly entering the zone in such an environment while keeping the makeup pristine demanded both a professional demeanor and physical stamina. The fabric of the sailor suit wrinkles quite easily, so I remained standing or sat down with extreme care once dressed. In this bustling backstage corner with cosplayers and photographers constantly passing by, stepping into character without outside distractions was key. The outfit's cut leans form-fitting; to ensure fluid movement, I practiced turns and poses in front of the mirror countless times during fittings. The most rewarding moment of every cosplay is stepping in front of the camera and seeing that carefully recreated character in the viewfinder—bringing a 2D favorite into reality is what drives me to refine every detail. From custom tailoring to makeup and wig tests, every step demands full dedication. Facing the lens, channeling that energetic heroine and greeting every shutter click in peak form is what gives the final images true emotional power.
