This time, I didn't go with the usual school uniform version, but rather Reisa Uzawa's Magical Girl outfit from Blue Archive. This setting is visually very lightweight. The twin-tail wig that gradients from pink to light purple presents a highly soft, translucent texture under outdoor natural light. The star-shaped headband on top and the white feather small wings on both sides beautifully neutralize any potential drag from the long hair, making the head styling look lively and adorable.
The clothing itself also had a lot of thought put into it. The overall color scheme is a blue-and-white patchwork, where the layered ruffles and pleated designs bring an excellent sense of depth. The large bow on the chest, along with the patterned badge, puff sleeves, and gloves, can be said to aggregate all the sweet elements a magical girl should have. The matching shoes are also a custom model; the white-and-purple chunky heels, coordinated with the small wings and bow decorations at the ankles, extend the overall dreamy atmosphere from bottom to top.
The magic wand prop paired for this shoot has a substantial weight. Its pink-and-white painted coating combined with a complex interlocking structure beautifully points out the character's job attributes when held in hand. In different scenes, this prop also played an excellent interactive role—whether placed on a bench as a background foil or held in hand to coordinate with poses, it prevents the frame from looking too monotonous.
We were very lucky on the day of the shoot, catching the cherry blossoms in full bloom just in time for this cherry blossom outdoor scene. Ordinary public facilities like wooden benches, metal railings, and steps could also become filled with a romantic spring atmosphere when set against a tree full of blooming flowers and an azure sky. Especially the front shot taken behind the railings in the second photo, it not only fully displays the front details of the costume, but the blue sky and flower branches peeking through the background also make the overall tone look exceptionally clear and bright.
Because it was a high-light outdoor environment, it actually tested the lighting control and makeup. In the actual shoot, to match the character's dreamy, lighthearted traits, a high-key and soft exposure strategy was chosen, transforming the sunlight into an effect that comes with its own soft light filter. From the成片 (finalized photos), this approach was highly fitting; it not only preserved the details of the dress's mesh fabric materials, but also made the gradient color transitions of the wig much more natural.
From the relaxed state of sitting on a wooden bench making playful gestures, to the slightly derpy front face standing behind the metal railings, and then to the angle of turning back sideways on the staircase steps, different snapshots all showcase the beauty of this look from various angles during this piece of cosplay photography. Some minor episodes were also encountered on the day of the shoot—for instance, a strong breeze would mess up the skirt hem, or wearing the wig and headband for a long time would cause minor shifts in the styling, requiring us to stop every few shots to adjust the position of the bangs and accessories. However, being able to perfectly restore this character's setting is inherently a highly fulfilling thing for me.
