This time, I shot the regular cosplay photoshoot for Stardust from Medium5. Out of an obsession with recreating details, I put a lot of thought into selecting fabrics and making the skirt hem early on. The actual on-body effect turned out even better than expected; the deep blue fabric of the main Stardust blue dress features scattered glittering points, which, coupled with that faint purplish-red gradient along the lower edge of the skirt, presents a very delicate texture under the pure studio lights. I personally love the large-area bright yellow inner lining design inside the skirt. This blue-and-yellow color clash brings strong visual tension, which is one of the reasons I decided to shoot in a white studio. The clean background makes the color contrast of the costume look much more pure.
During the shoot, I used a yellow star prop and a book, executing several different states. The half-body close-up holding that book is actually more suitable for a cover, beautifully focusing on the gaze and details. Other actions, like lifting the skirt hem or jumping up on one leg, required coordination and candid capture from the photographer. Master Niaohua handled the shutter rhythm perfectly, precisely locking in the moments my actions settled. In terms of the venue, Mieye Studio's white studio lighting was exceptionally even and translucent, and the positions of the surrounding reflectors left us plenty of room for adjustment, saving us the trouble of filling light in post-processing.
The wig used was a silver-white style, and the black-and-gold segmented ring-shaped hair accessories on the sides were highly secure, staying in place even when trying some large-scale movements. The black leather straps on my body and the gold-edged circular disc decorations on the chest have many details; putting them on by myself was a bit of an effort, but once adjusted, the angles gave a great three-dimensional structure to the look. The gray high-heeled ankle boots on the feet feature golden pointed toe embellishments, which, along with the over-the-knee leg covers and rigid diamond-shaped armor decorations, stretched the overall proportions beautifully. This kind of outfit with specific character settings often requires a balance between local rigid materials and soft fabrics, and I am very satisfied with the overall coordination this time.
From the start of preparation to the final retailing, I managed this entire photoshoot completely by myself. The makeup didn't intentionally chase intensity, but leaned toward a gentle and clear eye look to make the gaze appear more agile. The pairing of the prop book and yellow stars served as an excellent accent. Special thanks to Master Lingyue for warmly providing the star prop, which added a touch of playfulness during interaction. The shooting process from beginning to end was very smooth, without any issues of stiff expressions due to fatigue. Recreating the character's lightweight, somewhat mysterious, yet sufficiently lively feeling was the greatest harvest of this cosplay experience.
