This shoot of JX3 Five Poisons Sect Cosplay work has its overall style positioned in an atmosphere interwoven with the exotic style and mystery of the Miao region. When I received this Iris butterfly themed costume from "You Xiang Ru Gu", I was looking forward to the layering of the purple. The color saturation after putting it on showed more texture than imagined, with the purple bandeau and dark-patterned skirt hem paired with black lace sleeve covers, creating distinct layers. For the makeup and styling, to fit the slightly cool and enchanting setting of the Five Poisons Sect, I specially used blue-purple colored contacts and fine-shimmer eyeshadow for layered blending. Coupled with the silver chain on the forehead and the butterfly tassels between the hair strands, the visual focus is concentrated between the brows and eyes.
Wearing the accessories was extremely tedious. The multi-layered silver rings on the neck ranging from thin to thick, and the well-spaced bracelets on the wrists all required slow position adjustments to achieve the natural effect in the final photos. The shooting location this time was chosen to be a blue-purple toned scene with a bit of a dark fairy tale vibe. Not only are there hanging wisteria vines, but there are also large and small skull bones as decorations, which perfectly fits the poison master attribute of the character. Before the shoot, I made some new attempts, such as trying to stand barefoot on the mirror floor with fallen purple flowers to capture that ethereal agility, or intentionally sitting sideways to let the skirt hem drape naturally to elongate the visual proportion of the lower body.
The biggest highlight on set was that floating large purple butterfly prop. When it echoed the blue circular light source in the background and the distant bamboo curtains, a sense of narrative in the frame was instantly established. During post-processing, I intentionally preserved the texture of the clothing wrinkles and lace edges, maintaining the real physical texture instead of overly softening skin details. I feel that expressing this kind of anime game character requires more than just restoring the basic appearance; it is more important to find the aura belonging to the character's traits. This time, I adopted some relatively extended sitting and leaning postures, attempting to convey the unique lazy yet dangerous contrast of the Five Poisons Sect in front of the lens, rather than just pursuing pure gorgeousness. The level of completeness presented by the entire work makes me feel that all previous preparations and on-site alignment were totally worth it.
