On this day, I decided to take this white dress to the park for an outdoor photoshoot. Pairing fluffy short hair and deep eye color with the off-the-shoulder dress, I wanted to capture a quiet, languid feel under the lush green natural light. The shoot that day was actually quite physically demanding because to match the character's casual demeanor, I needed to maintain a relaxed and natural posture throughout—especially during squatting movements, where I had to keep the skirt spread out while finding an angle that wouldn't crease the fabric folds too much.
Let's talk about the details of this look first. The tailoring of this outfit is quite meticulous—the shoulders feature an off-the-shoulder cut, which, combined with delicate floral embroidery on the cuffs and neckline, gives an overall vintage and elegant aesthetic. To complement the outfit's tone, I specifically chose a silver-white wig and styled it with slightly messy layers. For makeup, I didn't emphasize heavy eyeshadow, relying mostly on contact lenses and long eyelashes to brighten my eyes, keeping the overall vibe from appearing aggressive and adding a hint of cool approachability. The skirt's multi-layered ruffles and translucent tulle texture create a flowing effect with every step, though on park ground paved with rough stone tiles, extra care was needed to avoid dirtying the hem or tripping.
The highlight of this photoshoot was undoubtedly meeting those two orange cats. We originally planned to just shoot along the walkway, but didn't expect these little guys to approach us voluntarily. They weren't afraid of humans at all, and their coat glowed with a beautiful warm tone under the sunlight. I squatted by the roadside, taking out snacks I brought along to feed them bit by bit, and they immediately came over, their tiny paws making soft noises on the stone tiles. That moment was truly healing; during the snapshots, I could feel their trust in humans. Since cats' movements are completely unpredictable, keeping patience was essential during shooting—I fed them while adjusting my gaze, and the photographer kept pressing the shutter from a low angle opposite me.
Speaking of lighting and composition, the photographer used a very special low angle and shallow depth of field this time. Pictures 1 and 3 caught the expressions between me and the cats remarkably well; due to the wide aperture, the green foliage and wooden fence posts in the background were blurred into soft bokeh lights, drawing complete visual focus to my interaction with the cats. Scattered dead leaves and gravel on the ground provided a slightly rough texture that contrasted nicely with the softness of the dress. Compared to the studio polish under shadowless lights, I actually prefer the authenticity brought by outdoor natural light. Sunlight filtering through leaves leaves dappled light and shadow on hair and dress, making the tone of the whole image more vivid and lively.
Doing cosplay is truly something that requires passion—from picking costumes, trimming wigs, to designing makeup and scouting locations, every step takes effort. I'm thrilled that the final photos express an unforced, natural beauty. Collaborating with the photographer and the two little cats let me experience the true joy of outdoor shoots; it's not just a reshaping of the character's image, but also a warm embrace with the natural environment.
