When shooting Live photos with my phone in the dorm for this Burnice cosplay makeup test, I truly felt the character's signature boldness and carefree swagger come alive. Although I always joke with "apologies for being OOC", experimenting with this punk aesthetic and Punk style outfit was genuinely so thrilling and fun.
This time, I mainly wanted to capture Burnice's rebellious yet slightly lazy demeanor in Zenless Zone Zero. For makeup, I deliberately chose a pale porcelain base to balance the complexion and sculpt three-dimensional facial features. For the eyes, tea-brown contact lenses paired with dense upper and lower false eyelashes emphasized her sharp, focused gaze with a hint of pride. The glossy red lip was the finishing touch; leaving the lip borders softly diffused rather than sharply outlined kept the expression relaxed and natural rather than stiff or robotic.
The costume coordination was the absolute centerpiece of this look. The texture of the glossy black leather jacket was critical: evenly distributed large pyramid studs and sharp spike rivets, combined with silver circular buttons, maxed out the metallic biker edge. The glossy red neck scarf served as the core color contrast, anchoring the visual focus on the upper body, with the red-and-black palette carrying strong street credentials. Even though it was just a Makeup test daily session, donning those two exaggerated mechanical gold hair accessories and resting the cat-eye sunglasses atop my head immediately brought out that cool, subtly tsundere attitude.
Because this was a test makeup session within my dorm, I captured this set of dynamic Live photos. In motion, the twin-tails swayed dynamically with every move, adding a lively flair that static photos can rarely match. Especially that moment of resting my hand on my forehead—it truly felt like seizing her nonchalant charisma whether in battle or leisure. Although glimpses of the dorm's storage background peeked through occasionally, it unexpectedly added a grounded, everyday realism.
Honestly, doing cosplay doesn't always require an exquisitely decorated studio; pairing grounded, everyday settings with precise styling and capturing the character's intrinsic soul makes snapping these dynamic Live photos a total joy. For a character like Burnice in Zenless Zone Zero, her unpretentious confidence and effortless cool are qualities I hope fellow fans can feel through my outfit and expressions. While sorting through this footage, I kept feeling how much potential this character holds, and I'll likely polish the details even further in the future.
