Today's photo set features a derivative look for Alisaie cosplay from Final Fantasy XIV. The overall coordination leans toward a cozy, languid at-home style, featuring a color-blocked long dress in light blue and white with wide lantern sleeves, a white fuzzy shawl collar around the neckline, and delicate camisole spaghetti straps underneath. The chunky black cord knot with golden tassels at the waist is the crowning touch, breaking the monotony of pure white and blue. On my head, a lace-trimmed bonnet not only adds vintage charm, but also flatters the facial silhouette nicely. For the wig, I used textured, layered short white hair, paired with vivid blue contact lenses (White hair and blue eyes) to capture the character's aloof yet endearing disposition.
To match the cake-eating theme, the shooting location was an indoor venue with a vintage fireplace and wooden bookshelves for this Retro indoor photoshoot. For props, we prepared a slice of red velvet cake, a small silver fork, and an off-white throw pillow. In the first shot, sitting on a blue-patterned sofa, I held the fork while gazing at the camera, with the cake resting on a serving tray. In the second shot, hugging the cushion beside the fireplace, the warm-toned lighting cast over the dress evoked a cozy, heartwarming texture.
This photo series didn't intentionally aim for intense, dynamic poses; the primary goal was to convey an everyday sense of relaxed ease. Alisaie is a character with a very distinct personality in the game, so experimenting with this sweeter, at-home style was a refreshing new experience. During the shoot, facial expression management was crucial—nothing too dramatic; conveying emotion through the eyes was essential. The makeup focused on the eyes and the base, finished with an orange-red lip color to brighten the complexion and ensure I looked vibrant on camera.
Many white floral arrangements were placed around the scene, color-coordinating beautifully with the light blue hem of the dress. The fabric of the dress has a wonderful drape, keeping the silhouette sleek whether sitting or standing. Because the skirt is quite long, close attention had to be paid to how it fanned out, avoiding clumping into a bundle. While the plush collar is gorgeous, it easily casts shadows under indoor lights, requiring precise positioning relative to the light source. The entire shoot was delightful, and the final results were a pleasant surprise—especially the interplay of light and shadow on the fabric textures, where post-processing largely retained the authentic original color palette.
